Tiny community with the best of the Lehigh Valley
The rural borough of Tatamy might slip between the cracks for Lehigh Valley locals who are more familiar with surrounding areas like Palmer Township or Easton. This tiny community covers just half a square mile of land, is home to around 1,200 people and has just under 450 residences. “It’s hard not to know everyone in Tatamy, from your next-door neighbor to the person checking you out at the corner store. It’s just that kind of classic small town,” says Margaret Kelce, a volunteer at the Memorial Library of Nazareth who has lived in the Lehigh Valley for over a decade. Those who make this community their home can take advantage of a well-loved public trail system, the best schools in the county and walkable neighborhoods built alongside community staples like the local barbershop or a nearby church.
Tatamy’s main neighborhoods spotlight styles of the past
Houses in Tatamy are consolidated into a few core neighborhoods, and these homes may be next to shops or community staples like churches. These residential areas often have small yards, tidy sidewalks and a few carefully planted maple or oak trees. Popular home styles are bungalows, Colonial Revival and American Foursquares, and many homes feature Tudor Revival details like sharp, soaring roofs. Details like brick exteriors, dormer windows and curved entryways can also be seen throughout the unique homes of the borough. Prices tend to hover around $300,000 for a 3- or 4-bedroom home.

Two Rivers Trailway traverses the Valley
Despite its small size, Tatamy has plenty of recreation options. Braden Park is the area’s largest park, located just off Bushkill Creek, and two baseball fields, a playground, and an event pavilion. The park runs alongside Tatamy Trail, a walking trail and bike path that connects to the Two Rivers Trailway. Two Rivers winds throughout the Lehigh Valley, including into neighboring towns like Palmer Township and Stockertown. Mark Metz Park on 7th Street and High Street Park on High Street are two more recreation options, and both parks have playgrounds and basketball courts.
