In addition, the school district has paired with numerous local industries to offer a work-based learning course where teens can garner real-world experience.

Brittlebank Park is a hub for pickleball players
Families and athletes flock to Brittlebank Park, which underwent a significant renovation in 2023. U.S. Route 41, also known as Third Street in town, is one of Terre Haute’s main roadways and a major retail corridor. The strip has myriad fast-casual chains and some of the city’s best restaurants. Magdy’s Restaurant might have a humble exterior, but the eatery offers a refined dining experience that can be hard to come by in Terre Haute. New Day Café and Sunrise Family Restaurant have homestyle breakfast platters and comforting diner fare. Oriental Market offers specialty goods nearby, but for more variety, residents head 3 miles south on U.S. Route 41 for grocery stores like Sam’s Club, Fresh Thyme Market and Kroger. The bustling thoroughfare also has big-box retailers and shopping plazas.

Free Terre Haute Transit in 2025
The community is about 12 miles from the Indiana-Illinois state line border, and Terre Haute Regional Hospital is about 4 miles away. There are also a handful of Terre Haute Transit bus stops scattered throughout the area. Terre Haute Transit became fare-free starting in 2025, which city officials hope will improve service and increase ridership.An active CSX rail line runs through the area, which can cause traffic delays. There’s also a railyard nearby, but locals have said noise is not an issue.
