The alpine wilderness in Teton Village is a draw for nature lovers
Surrounded by alpine lakes, wildlife and the scenic Rocky Mountains, Teton Village embodies the natural beauty of the Jackson Hole Valley. This outdoor-oriented community is a destination for nature lovers at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Ski Resort and Grand Teton National Park. With scenic hiking trails and aerial gondola rides, residents have outdoor recreation at their fingertips. "It has ski access in the wintertime and warm-weather activities, like downhill mountain biking, climbing and the summertime tram," says Brooke Walles, a local and real estate agent at Jackson Hole Sotheby's International Realty. "We have so much recreation through national forests and national parks. It is unlimited."
Home choices include chalets, condos and large cabins on the mountain
Pine forests and tall mountains provide natural scenes that are visible from homes in the community. The area's available real estate mainly includes contemporary chalets and cabin-style homes. The median sale price is about $1.2 million, although single-family homes over 7,500 square feet can sell for up to $22.5 million. Condos are the most common housing style, costing between $600,000 and $4.5 million. Many listings are for fractional home sales, meaning a property can be reserved during a specific time frame, usually in peak season, at lodging communities like the Four Seasons Residence Club. "All of Teton Village is in a short-term rental area, which means houses are extremely limited and geared toward buyers looking for investment properties," Walles says.
Nearly all residential properties are at risk of wildfires. This community also has a moderate risk of flooding, which may affect about 30% of properties. The area has poor air pollution compared to most cities in Wyoming, and air quality will likely decrease in the coming decades.

Teton Village is adjacent to Grand Teton National Park, a 310,000-acre North American landmark with stunning mountain ranges and more than 250 miles of hiking trails. Moose Wilson Road, on the community's north side, opens up during the summer, providing quick access to the park. Granite Canyon Trailhead is an 8-mile hiking trail with alpine scenery. It also connects to the Phelps Lake Loop Trail, a 7-mile path around a clear-water lake below the towering Rocky Mountains and Death Canyon. Bears are frequently seen on local trails, requiring hikers to take precautions. The Aerial Tram is easily accessible, elevating up to 4,000 feet with panoramic views of the valley before reaching the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, a skiing hub with diverse terrain and more than 130 trails. Yellowstone National Park is about 50 miles north.
Teton Village has diverse dining and quick access to the city center
The village has outdoor gear shops and restaurants, including Italian, Asian and European cuisine. Corsa serves upscale Italian dishes in a modern atmosphere. The Mangy Moose Saloon has the interior of a wooden lodge, serving steak and burgers in a lively pub. Also connected to the restaurant, Mangy Moose Cellars & Grocery is a convenience store that sells wine and local goods. About 5 miles south, Aspens Market is the nearest supermarket in the Moose Wilson Road area, which has additional shopping and dining establishments. "You've got a decent commercial core," Walles says. "It used to be much more winter-oriented. It's become a year-round place since all the amenities have improved." Jackson is the valley's city center, with about 47 shops and 100 restaurants, approximately 12 miles southeast.
Gardening, incentives and sports in the Teton County School District
Wilson Elementary School earns an A grade from Niche and has a new greenhouse to expand its Garden Education program. Jackson Hole Middle School receives a B-plus, and it incentivizes student success with monthly prizes and accolades. Jackson Hole High School scores an A-minus and has won over 48 state championships since 2010 in sports like basketball, golf and alpine skiing.
Music festivals and concerts for all types of fans
The Rendezvous Music Festival offers two days of folk-rock performances in early April, with well-known artists playing in the town square. Another live music series is Concert on the Commons, which is on Sundays beginning in July. The Grand Teton Music Festival brings classical music to the village with orchestra performances at the Walk Festival Hall from early July to late August.
