Located in the southern tip of the 55-plus community The Villages , The Village of McClure is known for its ponds, carefully maintained green spaces and outdoor activity options. Realtor Jana Raber of Realty Executives Tri County says that lifestyle is a primary consideration for residents. “We have over 3,500 clubs that you can belong to,” she says. “Everything from baton twirling to ukulele playing. There’s a ton of golf courses, pickleball courts, you name it – plenty to keep you busy every day.” Raber goes so far as to describe the area as an adult theme park. “Honestly, you can’t describe it,” she says. “You have to go and see it.” The Village of McClure has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
Home sales range from $290K to over $1 million
The neighborhood features homes on about tenth-of-an-acre lots, with streets accented by palm trees. Backyards are usually small and fenced, and most homes include attached garages that often store one or two golf carts. Ranch-style dwellings from the late 2010s typically sell for between $290,000 and $500,000, depending on their size and amenities. The neighborhood has so-called designer homes, which are larger Contemporary Craftsmans, with features like indoor pools. These styles are sometimes available, priced between $940,000 and $1.2 million. Amenity fees provide access to recreational spaces, sports courts and numerous golf courses.
Pools, sports and craft centers fill the community’s rec hubs
The Villages boasts more than 50 golf courses, providing a diverse range of options for getting out on the greens. The Marsh View Pitch and Putt, closest to McClure, is an executive course with 18 shorter holes for quick rounds. Social opportunities include thousands of clubs dedicated to topics as varied as card games, photography and dragon boating. Recreational centers commonly feature pools, athletic facilities and craft workshops. Five designated trails cover more than 5 miles through the community, offering exercise and scenic views. Between the holidays, live performances and local celebrations, The Villages offers special events on a near-daily basis.
Celtic pub and brunch café offer distinct dining choices
Numerous shopping options are located along U.S. routes 301 and 441, including big-box stores and franchise restaurants. Grocery stores include Publix, Winn-Dixie and Fresh Market. Nearby Magnolia Plaza is close enough for locals to drive their golf carts there, making for convenient shopping. Reveille Café offers indoor and outdoor seating, serving classic brunch fare. In nearby Wildwood , Sawgrass Tavern prides itself on a Celtic atmosphere with a menu to match, including Scotch eggs, shepherd’s pie and corned beef and cabbage.
Transportation routes and healthcare facilities nearby
Transportation options include U.S. routes 301 and 441 and state Route 44, with Florida’s Turnpike offering a direct link to Orlando , roughly 60 miles away. Healthcare is provided at The Villages Medical Center, which offers facilities for emergency services and day-to-day care. Public transit isn't available, but Raber says that a culture of golf carts and bicycles is common to the area, with locals preferring their small-scale vehicles to full-sized cars.
