Newer Villages' neighborhood close to nature
Established in 2015, the Village of Osceola Hills is one of the newer neighborhoods in The Villages, Central Florida’s master planned community for adults 55 and older. It tends to attract buyers on the younger side, which drew current resident Dave Collins and his wife to the neighborhood in 2016. “We were looking for a good community to get into, with people closer to our age,” he says. Collins says he was also drawn to the look of the Osceola Hills, which sits close to Lake Deaton and the Soaring Eagle Nature Preserve--both of which provide a lush, green backdrop to the area. “It’s just beautiful down here,” he says. Along with nature, the Osceola Hills also has conveniences, including two recreation centers and shopping and dining options.

Some houses come with Lake Deaton views
Osceola Hills offers mostly Courtyard Villas and Designer Homes with two to three bedrooms. They range in price from the low $300,000s to the high $600,000s, with higher-priced homes featuring more square footage, recent renovations and sometimes, backyard pools. Near Lake Deaton, homes are often bigger, four-bedroom Premier Homes that measure over 3,000 square feet and some have water views. These homes can range from $800,000 to $1.5 million. Throughout the community, lawns are manicured and garages are standard, with additional room for golf carts, which is the preferred way to get around The Villages. While there are no sidewalks, wide, quiet streets offer plenty of space for bike rides and evening walks.

Home to Rohan Recreation Center and near Belle Glade Country Club
For an annual activities fee, residents can use any golf course or recreation center in The Villages, and Osceola Hills has two rec centers. At the Burnsed Recreation Center, locals challenge each other on the tennis and pickleball courts and relax in the pool. Rohan Recreation Center has similar amenities, plus a walking path and a sports pool, where residents take water aerobics classes and play volleyball. The Soaring Eagle Softball & Shooting Complex is located on Morse Boulevard and is where softball enthusiasts can join summer and winter leagues and air gun clubs gather to practice and compete. While there are no golf courses in the neighborhood, the Belle Glade Country Club is nearby and offers a 27-hole championship course. Lake Deaton is a scenic place to enjoy a picnic or take the boat out.

The Osceola Hills Social Club hosts many events for residents
Started by Collins in 2017, the Osceola Hills Social Club has grown to about 500 members who gather regularly for fun and fellowship. On the second Monday of each month, club members meet at Rohan Recreation Center for events like a Valentine’s dance in February, a costume party in October and Derby Night to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. Another marquee event is the Golf Cart Parade every December, where residents are encouraged to decorate their homes with Christmas lights, and other residents, on decorated golf carts, drive up and down the neighborhood streets. Collins says the number varies annually, but usually between 100 and 160 people participate. "People will sit outside and watch us in our carts. We're looking at the houses, and they're looking at us,” Collins says with a laugh.
