Along the quiet roads of Bell Aire, residents opt for a serene life in Mobile, Alabama. Widely undeveloped land, the community has lots galore, untouched by busy city life and noise. The neighborhood flourishes with mature willow oaks and pine trees surrounding ranch-style homes and spacious yards. From the residential areas, residents can drive to strip mall retail and a racetrack.

Cottages and ranch-style homes

Southwest of Mobile, Bell Aire is mostly composed of undeveloped land and residential streets dense with vegetation. The area has many spacious lots available for quiet and peaceful acreage. In the developed parts, tall trees and bushes decorate large yards. The extra space also allows the homes to come with driveways and attached garages, although the area is not walkable. The houses tend to be on the smaller side: mostly ranch-style houses along with cottages and bungalows. Sales prices range from $24,000 for a vinyl cottage to $232,000 for a bungalow with a wide front porch and intricate columns. “It’s an affordable area compared to the national average and the west side of Mobile,” says Realtor Jennifer Ballard who has 14 years of experience in the area and works with Bellator Real Estate & Development.

Local wetlands and greenery at Heroes Park

Heroes Park has multipurpose outdoor recreation including ballfields, a playground and walking paths. For quality time in nature, Muddy Creek Wetlands Management Area provides hikes along boardwalks and bridges over water where some people can watch birds, beavers and other wildlife. The paths continue through old oak trees and pine groves.

Education at Mobile County Schools

Students in Bell Aire go to the Mobile County Public School District, which earns a B-minus grade according to Niche. Schools include Nan Gray Davis Elementary, Katherine H Hankins Middle School and Theodore High School. The elementary school earns a C-plus rating, the middle school has a C and the high school also earns a C-plus on Niche. The high school has a wide range of clubs including the Robotics Team, Scholars Bowl and Spanish Club.

Off to the races at Mobile International Speedway

The Mobile International Speedway hosts car races on a half-mile paved oval track, and it was also the filming location for scenes from “The Final Destination.” At the racetrack, residents can also celebrate at Night in Lights, drive-thru holiday lights shows for both Halloween and Christmas where children and adults alike can be mesmerized by the large displays.

Transportation around Bell Aire

About 16 miles from downtown Mobile, residents of Bell Aire can easily commute to the big city via Interstate 10 East. Locals can get around by car since there is no public transportation in the area. To get to a nearby hospital, people can travel to the Mobile Infirmary. Residents can also access the Mobile International Airport for further travel from vacations to business trips.

Shopping at Island Road Shopping Center

To stock up on groceries for the week, residents can shop at Lil' Brian's Produce or the Winn-Dixie at Island Road Shopping Center. Locals can also visit Family Dollar for a wide selection of discount goods. As for eateries, China Chef Restaurant offers classic Chinese dishes in a relaxed, no-frills restaurant. The Main Event provides a dimly lit pub atmosphere complete with games like darts and pool, plus karaoke nights.
