Suburban living in the close community of Westfield
14 miles south of Mobile on Interstate 10 sits Westfield, a neighborhood in unincorporated Theodore, Alabama. “I’d describe it as a rural area where people really like their privacy, and they like their land,” says Ginger Hagenberg, who has been selling homes for IXL Real Estate in Mobile for five years. “With that said, it’s not as country as some of the other areas; there’s stuff going on here.” The area is not walkable, as many of the homes are spaced out on large lots. There is not much retail in the area, but there are national chains for groceries and restaurants that are recognizable across the nation.
Many ranch-style homes dot Westfield's map
Multi-bedroom ranch-style homes in Westfield begin at $150,000 and range up to $290,000. “One thing to remember is that you are outside the city limits, so that is going to affect taxes and usually means a lower cost of living,” says Hagenberg. The houses are located on narrow, winding roads, away from busier byways. The streets don’t have sidewalks, but the homes feature expansive yards, making it a pet-friendly neighborhood. The yards have mature oak trees and plenty of room for a garden. Residents don’t need to worry about on-street parking, as the homes feature long driveways.
