Greenburg Road
Storybook carvings near a treehouse-themed playground
The Fanno Creek Trail—a nearly 8-mile path that runs from Tualatin to Beaverton—connects the neighborhood’s largest green spaces. Dirksen Nature Park stretches across 48 acres of land behind Fowler Middle School, and besides its forested trails and wetlands, the park includes a baseball field, an imaginative playground resembling a treehouse and a living willow tunnel. A collection of intricately carved and painted stumps near the playground sets a scene of woodland dwellings and the creatures who inhabit them. Nearby Woodard Park has another playground and a picnic area that emerge from a forest of oak trees and ponderosa pines.Following Greenburg Road north, families will find a variety of indoor recreation centers for the infamous Portland rainy season. “Liggle Land is a pretty popular place for younger kids with indoor slides and ball pits, and there’s iFly Indoor Skydiving right off of 217,” says Zak Meaut, a broker with Premiere Property Group, LLC. Indoor batting cages and a futsal court—intended for a sport resembling soccer played on a hard court—are next door.
Mix of older bungalows and new traditional Craftsman builds
Greenburg Road has a mix of older homes—which tend to be closer to downtown Tigard—and more recent constructions. Modest bungalows built between the 1920s and the 1980s cost between $400,000 and $530,000, and some belong to a homeowners association with monthly fees of around $17. Ranch-style homes predominantly built during the 1960s and early 1970s range from $475,000 to $550,000, coming on lots up to a third of an acre in size, with room for recreational vehicle (RV) or boat parking. With construction dates from the 1990s and early 2000s, new traditional builds with Craftsman details fetch from $500,000 up to $700,000, depending on size.Student-run media by Tigard High’s young journalists
Children in the neighborhood may attend either Metzger Elementary School, which receives a B grade from Niche, or Charles F. Tigard Elementary, which earns a B-plus. Students from both schools may then attend Fowler Middle School and Tigard High School, both earning B-plus grades as well. Tigard High School offers both an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, as well as individual IB courses. Students can choose from more than 30 extracurricular clubs, including photography club, chess club, astronomy club and tech team, or cut their journalism teeth in the student-run online newspaper, weekly broadcast and yearbook. Two highways connect to major employment centers
Two major regional thoroughfares run through the neighborhood: the Pacific Highway and the Beaverton Tigard Highway, also known as Oregon state Route 217. The former merges with Interstate 5 to bring commuters to downtown Portland, while the latter travels north to Beaverton. Greenburg Road curves through the neighborhood, leading to restaurants and recreation in the north. It also has a number of TriMet bus stops, and the routes that pass through the neighborhood travel to downtown Tigard and Beaverton.Close to Washington Square and downtown Tigard
Greenburg Road is close to several shopping areas, namely downtown Tigard’s Main Street and the Washington Square mall on the other side of the Beaverton Tigard Highway. Nearby, a few casual lunch spots sit across from the Scholls Business Center; Mugen Noodle Bar serves ramen bowls and crispy appetizers like shrimp tempura, while Donburi Factory offers a chic interior with light-stained wood in which to enjoy steamy Japanese rice bowls. Farther south, Costco Wholesale, Walmart Supercenter and WinCo Foods are all within half a mile of each other.
