These homes also have the bonus of being within walking distance of nearby schools and parks, with many popular bars and events less than a mile from the front door. “Tinley Park Gardens is a quiet neighborhood,” says Cheri Cronin, a broker with Coldwell Banker Realty who has been serving the area since 1984. “There are good schools nearby, and you get more square footage for your money than in nearby Orland Park.”

Updated older homes in the shade

Tinley Park Gardens is comprised primarily of single-family homes in a mix of ranch styles, American Foursquares and Cape Cods. The houses in the neighborhood were built mainly in the 1950s and 1960s, and Cronin says many have since been renovated and updated. Homes are frequently three—and four-bedrooms and can range from around $200,000 up to $400,000 for a larger Cape Cod or Foursquare home. Homes offer decently sized front yards, with many large maple and walnut trees shading the driveways and large garages.

The Tinley Park Metra Station is also just half a mile to the north, allowing residents to get to downtown Chicago in less than an hour. Franciscan Hospital is 7 miles southeast of the neighborhood, and Chicago Midway International Airport is less than 16 miles to the north.
