Anneslie
A broad range of home styles keeps each lot in Anneslie feeling individual
The community’s gridiron residential streets are lined with historic homes, none of which date later than the mid-20th century. “The earliest homes were built in the 1920s,” says Langley. “Many have gone through some renovations, but there’s no new construction. The most recent builds all went up in the 1970s. There are 12 of those in total.” There is no one dominant home style within Anneslie. Cape Cods and Colonials sit alongside bungalows with Craftsman features and even brick Tudor cottages, giving each small, rectangular lot a unique sense of identity. Prices can range anywhere from $350,000 to $700,000 depending on the number of bedrooms, the size of the lot and the status of any renovations.Calvert Hall College High School has been in service for over 100 years
Many homes are within walking distance of Stoneleigh Elementary School, which receives a B-plus from Niche. From there, students may proceed to Dumbarton Middle, also a B-plus. Towson High School, which scores an A, is the nearest public high school, located on the far side of Wiltondale. Nearby private alternatives include Calvert Hall College High School, a Catholic institution that has served the community since 1845.A bounty of shopping and dining options within a couple miles of Anneslie
Grocery stores like Whole Foods and big-box retailers like Target are both within 3 miles of Anneslie, as is one of Maryland’s largest shopping malls. “The Towson Town Center being nearby is nice, but there are a lot of locally owned restaurants right on York Road that people can actually walk to,” Langley says. These include Pure Raw Juice, a favorite haunt of Towson University students, and the Villagio Café, a Persian restaurant that has remained popular for over a decade. Neighborhood residents can enjoy summer evening walks to The Charmery, a home-grown ice cream shop with flavors like Old Bay caramel and lemon stick, inspired by classics of Maryland cuisine. Other trendy communities in the city are also within reach. “Hampden isn’t a difficult trip at all, and it has a lot of options,” Langley adds. “And the Belvedere Square Market is the closest of the public marketplaces, so that’s a go-to spot as well.”From elementary school baseball diamonds to the expansive Loch Raven Reservoir
The closest green spaces to Anneslie are the baseball diamonds at Stoneleigh and Rogers Forge Elementary Schools, walkable from most area homes. Paying members can enjoy the 18-hole golf course at the Country Club of Maryland. For more extensive outings, folks can head up York Road to the Loch Raven Reservoir, a popular spot for fishing and hiking. Closer to home, the Stoneleigh Pool offers residents a basketball court and a picnic area in addition to the seasonal swim space. The CityLink RED line serves the community
York Road is the major thoroughfare for the neighborhood, connecting residents north to the Towson Town Center and south to Baltimore. Folks commuting beyond either of those cities can pick up Interstate 695 north of the mall and loop west to Interstate 70 and Howard County. The CityLink Red bus line can be boarded at the corner of York and Dunkirk Roads, providing public transportation to the mall or south to the University of Maryland city campus.Events at Towson University or downtown Baltimore are accessible from Anneslie
Nearby Towson University hosts a variety of shows and programs throughout the year, including stand-up comedy and concerts at TU Arena. Residents can also head to downtown Baltimore for Orioles games at Camden Yards or concerts at the Power Plant Live! venue at the Inner Harbor.
