To the west, McMenamin’s Edgefield occupies 74 acres of land that were historically part of a county farm, with original buildings from 1911. The hotel includes a golf course, distillery, brewery, winery and a movie theater, though some amenities are only available for overnight guests.The neighborhood is also a prime shopping location; the Columbia Gorge Outlets are immediately north of downtown, including Coach, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Columbia and Jockey outlet stores. First Fridays in Troutdale’s Town Center
Galleries, restaurants and shops on the stretch of the Historic Columbia River Highway that cuts through downtown buzz with activity during First Fridays, the city’s monthly art walk. Local artists and artisans set up tents to display their goods, and live music fills nearby Mayors Square park. “It really fills up. Housing options in Town Center include townhouses and single-family homes, which are mostly concentrated around the Helen Althaus Park, southwest of downtown. Split-level homes from the 1970s come with outdoor living space and price tags between $500,000 and $550,000, while older bungalows sell between $350,000 and $400,000. Newer subdivisions were developed near McMenamin’s Edgefield in the early 2000s, consisting of two-level new traditional homes with Craftsman details and tuck-under garages that range from $430,000 to $530,000.The neighborhood’s townhouses were also largely constructed during the 2000s, though new constructions can be found. Units with two to three bedrooms can fetch between $345,000 and $420,000, and some come with monthly homeowners association fees as high as $350.

Helen Althaus Park stretches across almost 10 acres of green space in the center of the neighborhood, southwest of downtown’s gridded streets. A full-court basketball court and a playground sit on the park’s 2 open acres, while a mile-long trail weaves through the rest of its forested acreage, connecting its Fourth Street entrance to the one on Seventh Street. Depot Park is a wooded green space sandwiched between the historic Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Beaver Creek, which empties into the Sandy River just beyond. It’s also next to the former Troutdale Rail Depot, which now houses the Troutdale Historical Society’s Depot Rail Museum.The McMenamin’s Edgefield golf course includes two par-three courses—one with nine holes and the other with 20. Tournaments are hosted on greens with blackberry bushes and views of the Columbia River Gorge.
College preparation at Reynolds High School
Children living in Town Center may begin their public school education at Troutdale Elementary School, which receives a C-plus grade from Niche. They may then move forward to Walt Morey Middle School before attending Reynolds High School, both C-rated schools. Reynolds High maintains several programs to give students head starts on their post-graduation goals, including a partnership with Mount Hood Community College that enables juniors and seniors to take a full-time college course load, dual credit opportunities with Portland State University and 10 Advanced Placement courses. Students may also enroll in career and technical education programs in medical studies, apparel design, digital media, entrepreneurship or engineering at the Center for Advanced Learning, a charter school Reynolds High partners with to expand its offerings.Highways lead to natural destinations and city centers
Town Center is well connected to both the area’s urban hubs and natural destinations. Interstate 84 runs through the northern side of the neighborhood, continuing west until it hits the Willamette River near downtown Portland, which is less than 18 miles away. The Historic Columbia River Highway travels east through the Columbia River Gorge and its famous “Waterfall Alley.” More locally, Southwest 257th Drive connects the Columbia Gorge Outlets on the northern side of the neighborhood to the city of Gresham in the south. A free shuttle service provided by Multnomah County takes passengers to the Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park, which includes an Amazon distribution center. A couple TriMet bus lines also service the neighborhood.
