A residential community close to highways and Lulah Hills
Lindmoor Woods-Valley Brook Estates is a suburban community near schools, highways and a soon-to-be commercial destination. "If you are in that first-time homebuyer price range, this is an ideal spot to look at because of the new development [nearby]," says David Pruett, a Realtor with Ansley Real Estate Christie's International and a previous Decatur resident. "They've torn down the North DeKalb Mall and began building a massive, mixed-use development. It's going to be called the Lulah Hills. It's a huge thing, and that's a big change for that part of town." The area earns its name from the Valley Brook Estates subdivision to the west and Lindmoor Woods to the east.

"There are a lot of 1960s and 1970s style ranches that can offer a great opportunity to get into a single-family home. Most of them will need a little updating," Pruett says. The community also includes New Traditional homes from the early 2000s. Some of the most recent properties are inside the gated Lindmoor Row subdivision. Two-bedroom condos and townhouses generally range between $130,000 and $240,000. Larger attached units can range from $415,000 to $600,000. Goats, expanding park spaces and a tennis club
Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve is a 23-acre wetland surrounded by suburbs. The public green space has trails through forests and swamplands. A herd of goats can be seen throughout the grounds a few months each year. The animals, managed by the nonprofit Applied Ecology Project, act as a natural poison ivy control on the preserve. Nearby Montreal Park includes a playground and hiking trails; Tucker City Council recently purchased adjacent land to add to the green space.
