Most single-family homes have stucco or brick siding and flat rooftops, painted in earth tones that complement the surroundings, as well as carports, xeriscaped yards and mountain views. Well-planned streets offer sidewalks and multiple cul-de-sacs. According to Wehn, one benefit of the area is that “A lot of the older-style homes have larger lots, so like .12 to maybe .25 acres as opposed to .07 acres, which is what you get in the newer homes in that same area.” Prices range from the mid-$100,000s, which could afford a one-bedroom condo, to the mid-$400,000s, which can afford a renovated three-bedroom single-family home.

Heading outdoors in Pima County
Jesse Owens Park is the closest park, about 2 miles from the center of the neighborhood. Spanning 38 acres, this park has nearly every activity residents could want, from playgrounds to athletic fields to a free little library. On days when you need to beat the heat, there’s even a swimming pool with no admission fee required. There are also multiple spots to go hiking in the mountains close by; one of the entrances to Saguaro National Park is just 7 miles from home. Even on rainy days, there’s still plenty of recreation around; a skating rink, movie theater, and bowling alley are all within minutes of home.

Tucson Unified schools within walking distance
Kids in Broadway East attend Tucson Unified School District schools, like Harold Steele Elementary School, rated B-minus by Niche and centrally located within the neighborhood; Gridley Middle School, rated B-minus; and Sahuaro High School, rated B. Sahuaro High offers Career and Technical Education programs in six disciplines, including Computer Science and Pharmacy Technology. Students even have the opportunity to qualify for internships where they can earn money, gain experience, and possibly even procure full-time employment after graduation.

Getting around the greater Tucson area
Residents can catch the local bus at bus stops located in three of the four corners of the neighborhood. By bus, residents can get downtown in about an hour; by car, it’s around a 14-mile or 25-minute drive. Homeowners in Broadway East are also convenient to Tucson International Airport, about 15 miles away.

Shopping and dining along East Broadway Boulevard
There are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities within a few minutes from home along East Broadway Boulevard. Groceries at Albertsons are within walking distance, and more conveniences like Walmart, Home Depot and Sprouts Farmers Market are just about 5 minutes down the street by car. There’s plenty of fast food to be found nearby at chains like McDonald's, Burger King, Little Caesars and Dunkin. Independent restaurants include options like Jethro’s Café and Tavern, a local breakfast favorite, and New York Pizza. For more serious shopping, the nearest mall is only 5 miles down East Broadway.
