Roberts is formed by a grid structure, with a few cul-de-sacs peppered along the neighborhoods’ eastern side. Narrow sidewalks line the sides of broad streets on the backdrop of a palm tree-speckled desert landscape. The majority of homes have fenced-in backyards, either with chain-link or brick. Nearly all the houses are ranch-style homes, some with a Spanish Mission influence. The prices range from $150,000 to $300,000, with the average home selling for around $250,000. Every October, The Boys and Girls Club hosts the HeART Works Annual Art Show, which showcases creative works made by the local youth. Though most residents use cars to commute, public transportation is available through the bus station on South Alvernon Way and 29th Street. The Tucson International Airport is also close by, just 7 miles south of Roberts.Shopping and dining opportunities throughout the community
Dine in at Carnitas Y Birria El Tarasco, a Robert’s staple for authentic and traditionally prepared Mexican food. The Neighborhood is another local option, specializing in Mexican and American bar food with an elevated twist. “The neighborhood has been a great new addition to Roberts. It’s quite popular,” says Huerta. For groceries, head to Eko Market just off of South Alvernon Way. For home goods, clothing and electronics, stop by the Target 2 miles north of Roberts.
