Single-family homes built to last
Set along sidewalk-lined streets, Sunset Villa’s two- to four-bedroom single-family homes were generally built during the mid-to-late 20th century. These are either ranch-style or Pueblo-inspired, and each has an attached garage or a carport. Layouts range from about 1,000 to 2,000 square feet, while lots range from 6,000 to 10,000 square feet; yards are typically bordered with stone walls or chain fencing and landscaped with low-water desert plantings, like agave, prickly pear cacti and palm trees. Prices here range from about $200,000 to $350,000, depending on a home’s size and features, and residents are evenly split between owners and renters. “A lot of times in these areas there’s a cool culture of moms and dads passing their homes down to their children,” Baker says.
Sunset Villa is a showcase of architectural diversity, where no two homes look exactly alike but all feel like part of the same story.
