A hub for easy living and natural beauty
Tucked comfortably on Tucson’s east side, Vista del Monte features neat streets and modest one-story houses. Tucson Medical Center is just a half mile east, and the Botanical Gardens is a half mile west. In addition to a park at its edge, the community has shopping in nearly every direction, making it a hub of convenience and activity away from the noise of central Tucson.
Caffeine kicks and Indian fares
Vista del Monte residents can start their day at Dutch Bros Coffee, a short drive down Swan Road. This chain offers a variety of cold brew and energy drink variations. In the opposite direction sits Indian Twist, a dine-in restaurant with familiar favorites like chicken tikka masala and lamb saag. There are plenty of options for the discerning vegetarian as well. After a nice meal, locals can pick up their prescriptions at the nearby Walgreens or grab weekly produce from Trader Joe’s. The Fry’s grocery is just as close in case Trader Joe’s was out of a particular item, or vice versa. Those biannual dentist appointments are made more accessible, too, with Grant Road Dentistry in the same complex.
Vitality Bowls and Savaya Coffee are popular with Vista Del Monte Tucson locals.

In-person and virtual gallery visits
The Madaras Art Gallery is a collection of approximately 300 works by local and southwestern artists. Featured original pieces include paintings, sculptures and photographs for sale. Homes in need of decoration call for a canvas or two. “We’re best known for our canvas reproductions, but we also do prints,” says Gallery Director Valerie Hill. “With our reproductions, you can own a smaller canvas version of the original work done by Diana Madaras and other artists.” The gallery hosts recurring events like Second Sunday Mimosas, where locals gather for some bubbly and socialization. Every four weeks, they open a new exhibit for locals to explore. For those unable to make it in person, the website has a virtual tour to recap annual exhibitions.
Desert-style homes with xeriscaped yards
The neighborhood’s houses form a simple, gridlike layout. Only seven miles from Downtown, “Vista del Monte is a big draw for the art scene,” says Hill. Though not technically a planned community, houses are spaced evenly and, as such, have similarly sized yards. Ranchers are a prevalent style, featuring a gravel yard with palm trees or cacti. A paved driveway is not guaranteed, but ample room for street parking exists. Pueblos are also popular here, featuring a plain but neat exterior. Houses range from $230,000 on the low end to nearly $700,000, depending on the number of bedrooms.

Enough space for everyone
Just outside the neighborhood is McCormick Park, home to the local YMCA. Residents can get active indoors by using their various free weights and machines. When the warmer weather arrives, the YMCA pool is the best way to beat the heat. The park has multiple playgrounds where kids can slide and climb to their hearts’ content. Awnings stretch across the play area so kids can safely play in the shade without concern of sunburn or heat exhaustion. Be sure to shoot some hoops on the basketball court or stroll the open area instead.
Sun Shuttle buses run all along the main roads of Vista Del Monte Tucson..
Short walks to the SunTran
Like most neighborhoods in greater Tucson, the SunTran is a convenient way for residents to get from point A to B. Vista Del Monte is relatively small, so walking to one of the bordering streets is the only inconvenience. Since this neighborhood is on the outskirts of Tucson and most houses have their own driveways, owning a car is preferable for the long-distance commuter.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
