Convenient life off Route 66
Overlapping swirls of sky blue and tangerine orange welcomes all who pass through Clarland Acres. This artistic display is designed to resemble the layout of U.S. Route 66, affectionately known as the “Main Street of America,” which provides residents with a convenient path through the neighborhood to work in Downtown Tulsa and the many well-known parks and restaurants across the area. “McClure Park is a draw to the area,” says Marie McManus, Realtor for RE/MAX T-town with over 5 years of experience in the Tulsa area. Locals value that they can access 53 acres of free outdoor recreation space within a 2-mile drive of their homes.
Gridded lines of ranch-style homes
Houses are more affordable in Clarland Acres than in most neighborhoods near downtown. Asking prices typically start at $115,000 and can run up to $306,000 for the occasional property that exceeds 2,000 square feet and three bedrooms. These rates are significantly lower than in Tulsa, with an average home value of around $145,000 compared to $236,000. These gridded streets overflow with ranch-style houses built around the 1950s and 1970s. While some homes feature a sunroom and a huddle of loblolly pine trees guarding their fenced-in backyards, others display brick-and-vinyl-sided exteriors with a carport and a flat, square yard.

Cheapo Depo and Hank’s Hamburgers
Grocery shopping is made easy with Walmart and a discount grocer, Cheapo Depo, sitting a few blocks farther east. When cooking is not appealing, an unassuming storefront provides what many consider the best burger in Oklahoma. Hank’s Hamburgers, open since 1949, specializes in savory old-fashioned sandwiches served in generous portions. Frequent customers recommend washing it all down with one of the burger joint’s thick milkshakes. Going westward, Pupuseria y Taqueria Jimmy, a food stand, dishes out flavorful El Salvadoran classics like flautas, sopas and huaraches.

Mingo Creek to McClure Park
Locals drive to Boeing Park and park along the street near the tan-and-hunter-green playset. With a basketball under their arm, they walk over to the concrete court frequently used for pickup games. To play catch, there is a grassy field and a pavilion nearby, beckoning picnickers. To the west, one of the area’s biggest attractions, McClure Park, offers everything from a community pool and baseball diamonds to a disc golf course. Meanwhile, people seeking a more relaxed environment stop by Ann Patton Commons, an open floodplain park named for a local journalist and activist, to walk its sprawling paved trails and take in scenic views of Mingo Creek.

Learning at Lindbergh to real-world applications
Lindbergh Elementary sits centrally along the neighborhood’s southern border, serving prekindergarten through fifth grade. This elementary school, which emphasizes collaboration and fine arts, earns a Grade of C-minus from Niche. Hale Middle School, where students may go next within Tulsa Public Schools, also earns a Grade of C-minus from Niche. After finishing sixth through eighth grade, students may attend Hale High School, which Niche gives a C grade. Here, students are offered hands-on experience through the school’s partnership with the Home Builders Association. Students go on to take the construction skills they acquire and apply them to classes at Tulsa Tech, internships and job opportunities across the area.
Ashley’s Great American Flea Market
Right next to Cheapo Depo awaits one of the area’s busiest stores. Every weekend, residents line up to peruse Ashley’s Great American Flea Market, a warehouse-like bazaar full of vendors selling everything from jewelry to custom clothing. Just 8 miles east of Downtown Tulsa, but still far enough away, the neighborhood is not sucked into the bustle; Clarland Acres residents have the convenience of all Tulsa has to offer, from more affordable housing to popular parks.
