Longview Lake Estates
Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74128, 74129
Ranch-style homes on quiet streets
Longview Lake Estates is far enough from the city center to give the residential areas a suburban vibe. Properties measure about a quarter acre on average, with pockets of front lawn and fenced backyards surrounding 1970s ranch-style homes. Many houses are equipped with attached garages and paved driveways to minimize on-street parking. Level sidewalks make it easy to take the dog for a walk or lace up for a morning jog. Since there aren’t many commercial businesses around contributing to through traffic, the streets are relatively quiet. Homes in this neighborhood sell for $150,000 to $300,000.
Dive in at Longview Lake Estates Pool
Longview Lake Estates Pool is a summer oasis that’s open only to residents. After diving in, swimmers can relax on lounge chairs or fire up the grill for a picnic in the shaded pavilion. On the western edge of the neighborhood, Nelson Pond invites anglers to choose a lure and cast a line. A section of the Mingo Trail winds around the shore, giving walkers and runners a place to get their steps in. Nearby, Hicks Park offers more recreational opportunities, with tennis courts, sports fields, a walking trail and a playground.
Home of College Bound Academy
College Bound Academy, a tuition-free charter school, operates from the center of the neighborhood. Students can hone their math and literacy skills here from kindergarten through third grade. Area public schools include Skelly Elementary and Hale Middle School, both of which earn a C-minus from Niche. Next comes Nathan Hale High School, which gets a C.Miles on the Mingo Valley Expressway
US Route 169 — also known as the Mingo Valley Expressway — forms Longview Lake Estates’ eastern border. To the north, I-44 offers access to US Route 66 and I-244, both of which lead travelers to the heart of Tulsa. The 9-mile drive to downtown Tulsa takes about 15 minutes, while the ride to the airport takes about 10 minutes. Car-free commuters can hop on MetroLink Tulsa buses from the stops along East 21st Street. For a mellower city experience, Broken Arrow’s Rose District is also a 10-minute drive away.
Tamales and Tacos Mi Rey
Residents head to East 21st Street when they get a craving for Tex-Mex cuisine. El Chico is a regional chain serving classic fajitas, enchiladas and tamales. Just down the street, Tacos Mi Rey dishes up street tacos on hand-made tortillas. There are several small convenience and grocery stores nearby, but Walmart Neighborhood Market on South Garnett Road is the closest option for major grocery hauls.Crime
CAP Index gives Longview Lake Estates a crime score that’s slightly higher than the national average but lower than the one for downtown Tulsa. While recent statistics published by the Council of Criminal Justice indicate that violent crime is decreasing in major urban areas, the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) shows that suburban neighborhoods are experiencing an uptick in property-related crime. Since many families relocated to the suburbs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, economic and cultural integration challenges could have a negative impact on public safety efforts.
