As a residential area close to the city, Maplewood’s central location makes it a convenient place to live. With Interstate 244 cutting through it, the neighborhood is just a 6-mile drive from Downtown Tulsa and even closer to restaurants, nightlife spots and other attractions.
Cost-effective single-family homes
Neighborhood streets in Maplewood are lined with both old and recently renovated builds with fenced-in and wooded backyards. “There are single-family homes here that are a bit older from the 1950s. They’re usually pretty small, about 600 to 800 square feet,” says Real Estate Agent Julio Arias with Fathom Realty, who is bilingual and has 5 years of experience. Masonite or vinyl-siding bungalows and stucco ranch-style properties cost anywhere between $100,000 and $225,000, depending on square footage, condition and if it offers other amenities like garages.

Shops along Sheridan Road
When Maplewood residents want to go shopping or dining, there are several places along North Sheridan Road that they can try out. Bill & Ruth’s Submarine Shops is a family-run restaurant that specializes in sandwiches of all kinds, including cold subs like pastrami and cheese and hot picks like Reubens. The menu also includes spaghetti, chili, potato salad and soup. There’s also Mary’s Tamales & More, serving authentic Mexican dishes. Across the street, Steve’s 727 Club is a hole-in-the-wall bar that brings nightlife to the area with its billiard tables, live music and karaoke nights. Those who would rather eat at home can buy their groceries at Warehouse Market or go 2 miles southeast to the closest Walmart Supercenter.
In addition to the local restaurants, Sheridan Road also has a few shops like Family Dollar, a furniture store, a tire shop and a beauty supply store. However, most residents go somewhere else to buy their essentials. “For big stores and shopping, people will have to travel away from the neighborhood,” Arias says. Springdale Shopping Center sits just 3 miles west with a slew of chains like Tops & Bottoms and Walgreens. Anything else people might need can be found downtown.

City parks near Maplewood
While there aren’t any green spaces in Maplewood itself, there are a couple of parks nearby that residents can visit when they want to stretch their legs. Maxwell Park is only a mile away on East Newton Street. Play a round on the disc golf course, practice your shots on the basketball court or explore the playground area. The park’s grassy field is popular with youth soccer leagues, and the splash pad is a local hotspot during the summer. Maxwell’s namesake library is next door and equipped with a free-to-use computer lab and programs for both children and teens. Other nearby parks with their own amenities include Benton Park and Lantz Park.
