Suburban life next to the Tulsa Expo Center
Right outside of Tulsa, the small residential enclave of Mayo Meadow attracts residents looking for proximity to one of the biggest attractions in the state: the Tulsa Expo Center. Locals can easily head up to the fairgrounds and arena or can take advantage of the commercial center right next door, with its big-name shops and chain restaurants. U.S. Route 64 – known colloquially as the Broken Arrow Expressway – serves as the neighborhood’s southern border, making it one of the more convenient Tulsa suburbs to live in. “It’s within walking distance to the fairgrounds and other special events,” says Lori Lassman, a real estate agent at McGraw Realtors with 16 years of experience in the area. “And there’s a lot of pride in homeownership in here.”

The Tulsa State Fair and The Pavilion
Mayo Meadow sits right next to the city's largest event magnet. The Tulsa Expo Square encompasses the fairgrounds that host the Tulsa State Fair, an 11-day event that's estimated to have more than a million attendees. The Square is also home to The Pavilion, an entertainment venue used for anything from concerts to horse races, and the Tulsa Flea Market, where people come from all over to find priceless gems, antiques and handmade crafts. During the warm summer months, Paradise Beach Waterpark is open for families to play and cool off when they’re not exploring the rest of Expo Square. While Mayo Meadow residents can walk to the attractions, visitors from farther away can drive their RVs and park at the Expo Square RV Park during their stay.

Ranch homes with driveways and patios
The bulk of Mayo Meadow consists of quiet residential streets, where many ranch-style homes have driveways that keep the roads clear for walks and bike rides. Several houses were originally built in the 1950s, but many have been recently renovated with updates to both the exterior and interior. These properties, some with attached garages and spacious back patios inside fenced-in yards, typically come in 1,000- to 2,000-square-foot sizes and can cost anywhere from $165,000 to around $325,000. “The market has been very consistent, and the values are good,” Lassman says. “It’s a really well-priced neighborhood.”

Shopping and eating around Expo Square
There is a Walmart Neighborhood Market located in the north part of town, but because Mayo Meadow is primarily a suburban area residents will typically head outside of the neighborhood for more shopping and dining options. Around Tulsa Expo Square, there is a bustling commercial area that includes plenty of chain restaurants and fast-food eateries. There are also shops including Target and Reasor’s grocery store. Also in the Expo Square area, 100°C Grill & Hot Pot is the first restaurant in Tulsa of its kind. Diners can choose their base soup and add meats, veggies and other toppings. Next door, Mi Pueblo offers generous portions of the classic Mexican dishes.
