It might be called Plain View Heights, but this East Tulsa neighborhood boasts a sight you won’t see anywhere else. A 25-foot-tall bottle emblazoned with the words “Liquid Life” marks a stretch of Interstate 44 that cuts a diagonal path through the area. Billed as the world’s largest hair tonic bottle, the lavender-hued landmark lets residents know they’ve arrived. Plain View Height sits on Tulsa’s outskirts, with plenty of open grassy space giving the residential properties room to breathe. “It’s like being in the country but still living in the city,” says Kim Cruse, Realtor with Keller Williams Advantage.

Ranch-style homes on large lots
Plain View Heights sits about 10 miles from Tulsa’s downtown districts. As a result, the houses are more widely spaced than in most urban residential areas. Most homes are modest-sized ranch-style houses dating to the 1970s and sitting on lots that measure an acre or more. “A house I recently sold out there was on two acres,” Cruse says. Many properties have fenced yards, attached single-car garages and enough driveway space to fit two or more cars. Home prices in this area start at about $150,000 and top off at around $200,000.

Industrial manufacturing is common in this region, but retail shops are scarce. Fortunately, the surrounding neighborhoods have plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. Residents pick up groceries at Las Americas on South Garnett Road or make the drive to the nearby Walmart Supercenter. The closest restaurant is Molcajetes, a family-owned and -operated Mexican eatery serving authentic dishes like whole grilled fish in a casual setting. Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store is right down the road for a sweet after-dinner treat.

Mobile home retailers, shed builders, hydraulic and construction equipment manufacturers, and an ice supplier operate from the area north of I-44. Automotive supply retailers and repair shops like TruckPro and Resurrection Cycles weave the neighborhood into the fabric of Route 66, which passes along the southern edge.
