Plain View Heights
Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74128
Ranch-style homes on large lots
Plain View Heights sits about 10 miles from Tulsa’s downtown districts. As a result, the houses are more widely spaced than in most urban residential areas. Most homes are modest-sized ranch-style houses dating to the 1970s and sitting on lots that measure an acre or more. “A house I recently sold out there was on two acres,” Cruse says. Many properties have fenced yards, attached single-car garages and enough driveway space to fit two or more cars. Home prices in this area start at about $150,000 and top off at around $200,000.Cutting a path to Clark Park
There are no parks in Plain View Heights, but residents don’t have to drive far to find one. The basketball court, playground and picnic facilities at Clark Park are just a mile and a half north, offering plenty of green space for playing tag or stretching out on a blanket with a good book. Plaza Tract Park is also within a few miles and features new playground equipment with slides, swings and climbing structures.Fly high at East Central
Students living in this part of town start at Kerr Elementary School and then funnel into East Central Middle School. Both these schools are outside the neighborhood, but East Central High School is across Route 66 on the southern border. The high school partners with Choose Aerospace and Spirit AeroSystems to offer paid internships to seniors interested in air- and spacecraft manufacturing. All three schools earn a C-minus from Niche.
Rock out at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Traveling east along I-44 leads to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa, about 5 miles away. In addition to the slot machines and poker tables, revelers can enjoy live music at the onsite bars three nights a week. From Plain View to plane view
Even though this is one of Tulsa’s easternmost neighborhoods, it takes residents just 15 minutes to drive downtown. From I-44, it’s easy to hop onto 244 or US Route 66 for the ride to the city. The drive to Tulsa International Airport takes about 10 minutes. Tulsa’s MetroLink transit system sends buses to Route 66 and South 129th East Avenue for those who prefer public transportation.Authentic Mexican cuisine at Molcajetes
Industrial manufacturing is common in this region, but retail shops are scarce. Fortunately, the surrounding neighborhoods have plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. Residents pick up groceries at Las Americas on South Garnett Road or make the drive to the nearby Walmart Supercenter. The closest restaurant is Molcajetes, a family-owned and -operated Mexican eatery serving authentic dishes like whole grilled fish in a casual setting. Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store is right down the road for a sweet after-dinner treat.Reaching new industrial heights
While the residential areas feature plenty of open space, there’s also an abundance of industrial facilities in the neighborhood. Mobile home retailers, shed builders, hydraulic and construction equipment manufacturers, and an ice supplier operate from the area north of I-44. Automotive supply retailers and repair shops like TruckPro and Resurrection Cycles weave the neighborhood into the fabric of Route 66, which passes along the southern edge. The Daylight Donut Flour Company also operates from this neighborhood, and the Specialty Bakery of Tulsa took over the mineral supplement facility on East Skelly Drive where the Liquid Life bottle stands.
