Contemporary single-family subdivisions near South Tulsa hospitals and shops
Cloaked by dense woods in the suburbs of southside Tulsa, Shadow Ridge is a quiet community located at the edge of the city but still conveniently close to big retail centers, expressways and several hospitals, including one undergoing a $250 million expansion.
Ronda Butler, a local real estate agent with Keller Williams, says the area tends to draw young families, doctors and health industry professionals because of the community’s highly rated schools, nicely sized homes and the proximity to the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic, Hillcrest Hospital South and the growing campus of St. Francis Hospital South.
The Shadow Ridge community extends from East 81st Street to 91st Street between Memorial Drive and the Route 64 Mingo Valley Expressway. While the community includes a few different residential development tracts, its namesake is a subdivision with only one road going into it off 91st. “It’s easy to get in and out, and there’s no drive-thru traffic,” Butler says. “It’s quiet and self-contained.”
Shadow ridge is located in South Tulsa, between Memorial and Mingo and 91st.
The brand new VA Clinic is lauded by Tulsa veterans as top notch and friendly.

Cozy and modern single family homes averaging about $300,000
A blend of contemporary, traditional single-family homes comprises most of Shadow Ridge’s housing inventory. Developed in the 1980s and ’90s, the different subdivisions feature wide streets and homes with attached garages. There are few sidewalks, though, as the developments are oriented to car-commuting and bounded by large roadways. Prices range from $230,000 for a 1,600-square-foot home with two oversized bedrooms in the gated Honey Creek subdivision to $430,000 for a four-bedroom Colonial Revival with a stone façade and two-car garage spanning more than 3,700 square feet.
Homes in Shadow ridge come in a variety of choices.

Top-rated Union School District schools
Butler says the Union School District is a significant draw for the area. Niche gives Cedar Ridge Elementary School an A-minus rating. From there, kids advance to various schools at the secondary level. The Union 6th and 7th Grade Center and the Union 8th Grade Center both get a B rating from Niche. After the middle school years, students can then enroll at the Union High School Freshmen Academy before entering Union High School. Niche gives the freshmen center an A and the high school an A-minus. Alternatively, families can apply to send their kids to the PreK-12 Regent Preparatory School, a private Christian school in the community that gets an A-plus rating from Niche.
Education flourishes at Union High School, a cornerstone of knowledge in Tulsa.

French cuisine at La Louvre and quick access to Woodland Hills Mall
With the exception of a shopping center in the southwest corner of the community, there are only a few restaurants and shops in the Shadow Ridge area. In a small upscale strip mall along Memorial Drive to the west, new parents can shop for footie pajamas and sturdy cribs at Peek A Boo Baby before indulging in bites of savory crepes or sweet almond croissants at La Louvre French Café. New homeowners can buy furniture and home décor at Big Lots or Old Time Pottery in the Square 91 Shopping Center nearby. Even more shopping options are available about two miles down Memorial Drive at Target and Costco, both located along a busier commercial corridor that also includes fast-food restaurants, car dealerships and a few grocery stores, including Aldi and Sprouts Farmers Market. North along Memorial Drive, the Woodland Hills Mall remains a popular shopping destination for all of the Tulsa metro region, featuring more than 150 businesses anchored by Macy’s, JCPenney and Dillards.

Golfing at MeadowBrook Country Club
The private MeadowBrook County Club lies in the center of the community with its 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course. The club also offers programming for children and leagues for adults as well, with instruction by on-site professionals to boot. Aside from the country club, there aren’t any open green spaces in the community, which also lacks public parks or recreation.

Quick commutes via Routes 364 and 64
South of the community, motorists can take the Route 364 Creek Turnpike toll road or the Mingo Valley Expressway to reach Downtown Tulsa about about 15 miles to the northwest. "Commuting takes less than 30 minutes," Barber says. "And that's considered long for us. It usually takes about 20 minutes is about normal for any other place in Tulsa." Close to downtown in North Tulsa, jets fly out of Tulsa International Airport to destinations across the county, including Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Washington and New York City. While long-range and regional passenger rail service has not been offered since the 1970s, transit advocates are pushing local, state and federal officials to resume service at the Tulsa Union Depot downtown.
The Creek Turnpike connects with US-169 in Shadow Ridge for easy commuter access to Tulsa.
