Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74135, 74145

Ranch-style houses and a neighborly vibe
The subdivisions in this area sprouted up in the 1960s and ‘70s. The median Stevenson-area home was built in 1965, and many of the original residents never left. That has created a very friendly vibe in the neighborhood that continues to the present day as some of those houses are finally hitting the market. “Anyone who moves in is very friendly and wanting to meet residents and neighbors,” Gilbert said. “In many neighborhoods, you have people who just want to be left alone. Here, there are people out walking at all times of day, from early morning to late afternoon. That's a really good sign. A lot of neighborhoods don't have that residential pedestrian traffic.” Most houses are ranch-style with suburban lawns that have room for one or more trees that have grown for the past half-century. Homes range from $155,000-499,000 with a median sale price of $250,500.LaFortune Park is Tulsa's largest
LaFortune Park, Tulsa’s largest green space at 270 acres, is in the neighborhood. It has 3.2 miles of trails, an 18-hole championship golf course, a lighted 18-hole par-3 course, a tennis center with 21 lighted outdoor courts and three indoor courts, two fishing ponds, playgrounds, and even a 10,000-square foot public library. Though smaller in comparison, Aaronson Park is another neighborhood location appealing to both children and walkers. The historic Memorial Park Cemetery is also in the neighborhood. Among others, it serves as the final resting place for a diverse set of celebrities ranging from televangelist Oral Roberts to Country Music Hall of Famer Roy Clark to Rock to Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell and legendary comedian Sam Kinison.Students are in Memorial High attendance zone
Three elementary schools serve the Greater Stevenson area. Carnegie Elementary has a B-rating from Niche, while Key and Salk Elementary both have C-ratings. Students from all three schools attend Memorial Middle School, which carries a C-minus rating. From there, they move on to Memorial High School, which has a C-plus Niche rating. Memorial also draws students from outside the neighborhood thanks to its engineering magnet program, highlighted by the Circuit Chargers robotics team. Stevenson is also home to Tulsa’s only Muslim school, Peace Academy, which serves K-12 students. Bishop Kelley High School, located just across I-44 from the neighborhood, is an A-rated private option.Expo Square events are an easy drive
Anchored by Tulsa’s most well-known landmark – the 75-foot-tall Golden Driller statue – Expo Square is a 5-mile straight shot from Stevenson. It hosts annual events like the Tulsa State Fair and the USA BMX Nationals, as well as seasonal horse races at Fair Meadows. Closer to home, the Bricktown Comedy Club brings nationally known comedians into the neighborhood on a nightly basis. An easy gateway to the rest of Tulsa
Stevenson’s proximity to I-44 and the Broken Arrow Expressway makes it convenient to get anywhere in the region. There are also Tulsa Transit bus routes on 51st Avenue and Memorial Drive. According to Gilbert, a new public works project is finally bringing much-anticipated sidewalks to benefit neighborhood pedestrians. Saint Francis Hospital is directly adjacent to the neighborhood south of 61st Street.
Shopping and dining with international flavor
The proximity to the highways assures the area of a wide range of shopping options, including several Middle Eastern and Asian groceries. There’s also a good array of good eating. The Spudder, a steakhouse that pays homage to Tulsa’s oil and gas history, has been here since 1976. The Bros. Houligan, located near LaFortune Park, is known for its comfort food. The waffle fries with dipping gravy and large family-sized bowls of shareable green beans are among their favorites. And, of course, there’s barbecue – local chain Oklahoma Joe’s has a location here, too.
