Terrace Drive
Suburban Neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa County 74104
Historic condos, bungalows and estates
Most of the homes in Terrace Drive date to the 1920s, when builders began to see the potential in the area. “You’ve got a mix of large estates with little bungalows and some historic condo developments,” Zinn says. Lot sizes measure about a quarter-acre on average, and many properties include paved driveways. A lot of people still park on the street, though, so the paved sidewalks are handy for pedestrians and dog walkers. Because this is an older neighborhood, there’s plenty of mature tree growth for shade and privacy. Buyers can expect to spend between $200,000 and $375,000 for a house in this area.Basketball at Benedict Park
Terrace Drive’s closest green space is Benedict Park on East 12th Street, across from William H. Bell Medical Plaza. Amenities include tennis and basketball courts, a playground and a picnic area. Though the park is small, it offers plenty of shade and a walking path for morning and afternoon strolls.Tulsa Public Schools
The Tulsa Public Schools district serves the Terrace Drive community, with most students attending Kendall-Whittier Elementary and Hale Middle Schools. Both schools get a C-minus from Niche. Nathan Hale High School is next and gets a C. None of these schools are in the neighborhood, but all are within a 10-minute drive.May’s Germanfest at GAST Event Center
In May, the German-American Society of Tulsa (GAST) hosts the annual Germanfest at its Event Center on Terrace Drive. Celebrants snack on bratwurst, sauerkraut and schnitzel while enjoying live entertainment like polka music and folk dancing. The crowning of the May Queen is the centerpiece of the three-day event, which also offers numerous activities to keep the kids amused. In addition to Germanfest, popular citywide events like the Tulsa State Fair, Oktoberfest and Lights on at Utica Square are just a short drive away.Taking the Tulsa Transit
It takes about 5 minutes to drive to Tulsa’s Downtown district from most houses in Terrace Drive. In addition to Route 66, the neighborhood connects to Route 64, which cuts an east-to-west path through its central section. The drive to Tulsa International Airport takes about 15 minutes. Residents without cars can rely on the Tulsa Transit buses that stop along Route 66 and South Lewis Avenue.A barbecue fix on Route 66
Residents will find most dining and nightlife opportunities along Route 66, which borders the neighborhood’s northern edge. Flo’s Smokehouse Eats is a barbecue joint serving succulent smoked meats for breakfast and lunch. Mixologists shake up cocktails six nights a week at The Starlite Bar, which hosts trivia and comedy nights as well as live music. Mother Road Market on South Lewis Avenue is a community gathering spot with retail space, a demonstration kitchen, a huge bar and a patio with sunset views. Groceries are available at Reasor’s, tucked into the curve of Route 64.
William H. Bell Medical Plaza
Two hospitals reside in a corner of Terrace Drive: William H. Bell Medical Plaza and Hillcrest Medical Center. Some buyers will be interested in this information because they need round-the-clock access to medical care. Others might shy away from the strong likelihood of hearing sirens at all hours of the day and night.
