Following Route 66 to downtown Tulsa
Home to a half-mile stretch of the famed Route 66, Terrace Drive leads to a slice of midtown Tulsa. As the Oklahoma city expanded to the south during the early and mid-20th century, neighborhoods like this began adding to its story. “Terrace Drive is one of the older pockets of Tulsa,” says Chris Zinn, owner and broker at Engel & V?lkers. Being within walking distance of the shops and restaurants on Cherry Street and two miles of downtown, the neighborhood keeps its fingers on the pulse of the city.
Terrace Drive is conveniently located near downtown Tulsa, Cherry Street and Utica Square.

A barbecue fix on Route 66
Residents will find most dining and nightlife opportunities along Route 66, which borders the neighborhood’s northern edge. Flo’s Smokehouse Eats is a barbecue joint serving succulent smoked meats for breakfast and lunch. Mixologists shake up cocktails six nights a week at The Starlite Bar, which hosts trivia and comedy nights as well as live music. Mother Road Market on South Lewis Avenue is a community gathering spot with retail space, a demonstration kitchen, a huge bar and a patio with sunset views. Groceries are available at Reasor’s, tucked into the curve of Route 64.

Historic condos, bungalows and estates
Most of the homes in Terrace Drive date to the 1920s, when builders began to see the potential in the area. “You’ve got a mix of large estates with little bungalows and some historic condo developments,” Zinn says. Lot sizes measure about a quarter-acre on average, and many properties include paved driveways. A lot of people still park on the street, though, so the paved sidewalks are handy for pedestrians and dog walkers. Because this is an older neighborhood, there’s plenty of mature tree growth for shade and privacy. Buyers can expect to spend between $200,000 and $375,000 for a house in this area.
In addition to single family housing, Terrace Drive also has condos and apartments.
