Bowles says the course was not in good shape when he got there, but it has steadily improved year over year. The course installed a new irrigation system and added cart paths, among other fixes. Other green spaces are nearby. Rob Leake City Park has 17 lighted tennis courts and two lighted baseball/softball fields. Gumtree Park has two covered basketball courts and a playground. About five miles away is Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo, which, at 210 acres, is the largest zoo in the state.
