A family-friendly Tupelo neighborhood with highly rated schools

Despite being around 3 miles from downtown Tupelo, Bel Air looks more like a manicured suburb than an urban neighborhood. The community has larger houses than surrounding neighborhoods, and those houses sit on large lots. Several bodies of water, including the 20-acre Legion Lake, are within the community. Kids can be seen riding their bikes around cul-de-sacs. The community has several original restaurants on North Gloster Street and a highly rated school system while remaining near the middle of the city’s action. "It’s nice and desirable,” says John Brady, an agent with Wesley Webb Real Estate. “It’s close to everything, and it’s real family-friendly.”

Bel Air Golf Course and Tupelo Country Club are golf options

The neighborhood’s only green space is Bel Air Golf Course, which is a municipal nine-hole course with no tee times. Jason Bowles, the general manager, has worked at the course for about 20 years. Bowles says the course was not in good shape when he got there, but it has steadily improved year over year. The course installed a new irrigation system and added cart paths, among other fixes. Other green spaces are nearby. Rob Leake City Park has 17 lighted tennis courts and two lighted baseball/softball fields. Gumtree Park has two covered basketball courts and a playground. About five miles away is Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo, which, at 210 acres, is the largest zoo in the state. Six miles away is Tupelo Country Club, the only private country club in Northeast Mississippi. The club has an 18-hole golf course and 11 tennis courts.
