East Side
East Side has a mix of eclectic custom homes
East Side offers an eclectic mix of custom homes spanning the past six decades. There are petite lake cottages from the 1960s, boxy Contemporary houses from the 1970s and New Traditional homes built between the 1980s and early 2000s. They sit along the banks of Lake Tyler, often with large backyards and long piers that lead out to the water. Front yards are equally spacious, and driveways are long, punctuated by private gates at the street. Smaller, older homes range from $600,000 to $800,000, while larger homes on sprawling lots are priced between $1 million and $2 million and often feature large boathouses. All homes are accessible by Eastside Road, the main street running through the community, which is two lanes and flanked by tall, mature trees. The highly rated Whitehouse Independent School District serves the area
Most of the community is zoned to the Whitehouse Independent School District, which has an A rating on Niche. Children can start school at Higgins Elementary, which serves prekindergarten through fifth grade. Sixth graders attend their own school, Holloway Sixth Grade, and seventh and eighth graders attend Whitehouse Junior High. Whitehouse High serves ninth through twelfth grades. All four schools have A ratings on Niche. Whitehouse High has a celebrated marching band, which has won the University Interscholastic League Marching Competition every year since 1989. The northernmost section of the community is zoned for the Chapel Hill Independent School District, which has a C-plus on Niche.Lake Tyler offers boating, fishing and relaxing
Outdoor recreation is largely centered around Lake Tyler, with many residents owning small boats and jet skis. Fishing and swimming are also popular activities. The Boulders at Lake Tyler offers more water recreation on the other side of the lake. The camping retreat is a tourist spot, but it also draws locals looking for additional opportunities to fish and boat. Nearby Eastside Park offers free year-round boat ramp access into Lake Tyler for residents who don't have a boathouse.Residents head to nearby Whitehouse for shopping and dining
Residents head into nearby Whitehouse to run errands and dine out. The Whitehouse Town Center at Route 110 has Brookshire's for groceries, plus various services, including dental offices, a nail salon, a car wash and an H&R Block location. Restaurants dot Route 110, including Golden China Buffet, a locally-owned spot that offers individual entrees along with its buffet, and Montez Creekside Kitchen, another locally-owned restaurant serving classic American dishes and is popular for its outdoor patio. On the other side of the community is the Lake Tyler Farmers’ Market, open seven days a week and a favorite place to pick up fresh seasonal produce. To get to the closest hospitals, residents head into Tyler, about 14 miles away, to UT Health Tyler and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances.Eastside Road leads to highways outside the community
Eastside Road is the main roadway in and out of the community. From there, residents head along Old Omen Road to Route 64 to get to Tyler and along East Main Street to get to Whitehouse. From Whitehouse, Dallas is about 120 miles away. If residents want to avoid driving to Dallas, they can hop on a flight out of Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, about 30 miles away, which offers daily flights to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
