Lakeside living in East Texas
Spacious homes perch along placid Lake Tyler with long piers leading to boathouses where kayaks and jet skis wait to be taken out on the water. Large outdoor decks face the lake, perfect for reading a book on a warm afternoon, and the only sound is the wind through the trees. For many, this is a perfect yet fleeting vacation, but it's everyday life for residents of East Side, a small community located along the banks of Lake Tyler. East Side is about 15 miles from Downtown Tyler and 8 miles from the smaller Downtown Whitehouse—removed from any hint of hustle and bustle. It’s secluded, and as Annie Dwyer, a real estate broker with Brooklyn Rose Realty Group and a Tyler resident, says, “I think they like it that way. It’s a lifestyle out there. People are drawn to the lifestyle.”
East Side's Lakeside Grill hosts a karaoke night every friday, bringing out locals.

East Side offers an eclectic mix of custom homes spanning the past six decades. There are petite lake cottages from the 1960s, boxy Contemporary houses from the 1970s and New Traditional homes built between the 1980s and early 2000s. They sit along the banks of Lake Tyler, often with large backyards and long piers that lead out to the water. Front yards are equally spacious, and driveways are long, punctuated by private gates at the street. Smaller, older homes range from $600,000 to $800,000, while larger homes on sprawling lots are priced between $1 million and $2 million and often feature large boathouses. All homes are accessible by Eastside Road, the main street running through the community, which is two lanes and flanked by tall, mature trees.
