Safe and welcoming neighborhood with easy access to New York City

Especially over the past five years, Union Township has become a hotbed for new residents, welcoming many Manhattan and Brooklyn residents. The township gives all its residents a mix of city and suburban amenities, allowing folks to have reminders of their past city lives while having a home with a yard. This sprawling township is divided into over a dozen neighborhoods that vary by housing styles and street sign colors. While most of these areas have their own neighborhood associations and events, the entire township still feels like one big neighborhood and has events of its own. “Union Township is a very welcoming neighborhood, with a diverse demographic,” Tina Torres, a Realtor with RE/MAX Lifetime Realtors says. “It’s a great value for the proximity to New York City.”

From the best hot dog in New Jersey to secret sushi items not on the menu

Union Township has a cornucopia of grocery stores and big box stores. Galloping Hill Inn has been a local institution for nearly a century. The inn has an extensive menu featuring burgers, chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks and more. It’s simply amazing.” Other local favorites include The Red Cadillac, an authentic Mexican street food spot decked out like an auto body shop, and Burnet B.B.Q., a local chain serving Portuguese and American fare. For ice cream lovers, there's Magic Fountain, an old-school ice cream shop with homemade flavors and a Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard stand. For grocery shopping, there's a ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Costco and Walmart. For DIY projects, there is a Home Depot and a Target in the neighborhood.
