Quiet Vancouver suburb located between trendy waterfront developments
Forest Ridge is a quiet, suburban neighborhood of community green spaces and midcentury ramblers, some of which back up to one of the most extensive trail systems in Vancouver. Though it may be insulated from city noise and traffic, Forest Ridge has easy access to several highways that connect to an international airport and bustling downtowns. “The overall location is pretty fabulous,” says Rebecca Dunn, a broker with Keller Williams Realty Premier Partners who is licensed in both Washington and Oregon. “It’s very centrally located. You could be at the downtown [Vancouver] waterfront within 12 minutes or less, but if you head east, you could be in Camas in the same amount of time.”

Midcentury brick ranch-styles and new traditional homes
Homes in Forest Ridge echo a vision of practical suburbia from the middle of the last century. Brick ranch-style homes—largely built throughout the 1950s, with a few later constructions from the 1970s—come with backyard space for outdoor living and storage or hobby sheds, costing between $410,000 and $490,000. “They have nice, big lots, more mature trees and wider streets than other suburbs,” Dunn says. “There’s a lot of pride of ownership there.”
New traditional homes from the late 1990s are defined by nostalgic Craftsman details and arched windows. They cost between $520,000 and $550,000 and are concentrated in the northern section of the neighborhood. Few streets in the neighborhood are equipped with sidewalks, though extensive walking trails and neighborhood green spaces surround Forest Ridge.

Burnt Bridge Creek Trail starts in Meadowbrook Marsh
The most significant green space around the neighborhood is Meadowbrook Marsh, which contains the starting point of a trail that weaves throughout the city for about 8 miles until it hits Vancouver Lake. Besides its length, the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail is known for its birdwatching potential, though beavers and deer also make their homes near the willows, cottonwoods and dogwood trees surrounding the trail. Adjacent to the natural area is Forest Ridge Park, which is full of towering Douglas Firs and a playground. Nearby, radishes, peppers and onions sprout in the Marrion neighborhood garden, conveniently located behind Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Centers.

Highways, buses to downtown and a regional hospital
The neighborhood is located north of Mill Plain Boulevard, which runs west past PeaceHealth Hospital to downtown Vancouver, and east to a cluster of grocery stores and restaurants near Interstate 205. The interstate connects the area to Portland and its recently renovated international airport, which is about 7 miles south of Forest Ridge. Solidifying its accessibility factor, Forest Ridge is close to Washington State Route 14, which runs directly to downtown Vancouver, also roughly 7 miles away. A C-TRAN bus runs through the neighborhood, connecting it to downtown Vancouver as well.
Several eateries near neighborhood grocery stores
Following Mill Plain Boulevard east, drivers will find a Walmart Supercenter, Trader Joe’s, Fred Meyer and several restaurants. Pho Star has a traditional Vietnamese menu, with hearty noodle soups, banh mi sandwiches and traditional fried crepes stuffed with pork and shrimp. Plus, it serves fruit smoothies in a soothing peach interior with various indoor plants. I Heart Gyro has gyro wraps and kabobs, which can be enjoyed before a strong, post-meal Turkish coffee and crispy baklava.
High schools succeeding in health and science education
The neighborhood is divided into two public elementary school zones. Students living in the northern half of Forest Ridge may attend Marrion Elementary School, which earns a C grade from Niche, while students in the southern half are zoned for Ellsworth Elementary, which scores a C-plus. Students from both schools may move forward to C-plus-rated Wy’East Middle School before enrolling in Mountain View High School. The neighborhood high school earns an A-minus grade and celebrated success at the National Science Bowl regional in 2023. High schoolers may also apply to nearby Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School, which receives a B-plus and offers programs of study in biotechnology, pharmacy and public health.
