Parkside offers a central location among schools, parks and shopping
The ranch-style and contemporary houses in east Vancouver’s Parkside neighborhood are less than 2 miles from the three schools its children will attend from kindergarten through the 12th grade. They're also just as close to some of the city's most popular parks, restaurants, and shopping centers.
A variety of subdivisions with modestly sized yards
Laid out within the past 50 years, the neighborhood’s subdivisions feature winding, suburban streets that often end in cul-de-sacs or simple dead ends. They’re lined with a mixture of ranch-style houses from the 1960s and two-story contemporary houses from the 1980s. These houses sit atop 6,000 to 10,000-square-foot lots that have enough space for a well-manicured front lawn and a backyard full of trees. Pockets of this neighborhood feature newer contemporary houses built right next to one another on smaller, 4,000-square-foot lots. Other parts of the neighborhood have some ranch-style houses that sit atop lots that stretch across a quarter acre or more. These houses range from $350,000 to $550,000, depending on their age more than anything else. Some parts of this neighborhood have sidewalks, while others do not, so your ability to get around without a car varies from one subdivision to another.
Children zoned to Evergreen Public Schools
Parkside’s children can attend Burton Elementary, which earns a C from Niche. Most of its students will move on to the C-rated Cascade Middle School and the C-plus-rated Evergreen High, both of which, like Burton Elementary, are less than 1.5 miles from the neighborhood’s center. A handful of students who live in the neighborhood’s eastern edge will join their neighbors from the Parkway East neighborhood at Pacific Middle School, which scores a B-minus grade, before they go to Evergreen High with the rest of their class.
Diamond Park is the highlight of local recreation options
The 5-acre Diamond Park, which has an asphalt walking path, basketball courts, and a playground with a swing set, sits at the center of this neighborhood. Two undeveloped neighborhood parks, East Image and Wyckoff, offer even more open space within a mile of its center.
Situated between Safeway and 162nd Place Shopping Center
The shopping center surrounding the Northeast 28th Street Safeway – which is home to Grady’s Public House, Kim’s Grill Teriyaki, and a Muchas Gracias Mexican Restaurant – is about two miles east of the neighborhood’s center. Head in the other direction, and you’ll find the Petra House Mediterranean restaurant, Champs Pizza, and McMenamin’s East Vancouver Pub at the 162nd Place Shopping Center.
Less than 10 miles from I-205, I-5
Parkside’s ranch-style and contemporary homes are less than 2 miles from just about everything east Vancouver offers. Add this to the fact it’s less than 3 miles from Interstate 205 and 8 miles from Interstate 5, and you’ve got an excellent place to call home.

When we hear sirens, we shut and lock all the doors, because there have been multiple times the police have been chasing a criminal in our back yard. An attempted murder just happened three houses up from ours. A monk woman was there by herself and they attacked her, she had no valuable possessions.
