Expanding suburb with panoramic mountain views
Across the ridges of Shades Mountain is the community of Bluff Park. The mountain community has panoramic views of the Shades Valley below and Red Mountain in the distance. Considered one of the oldest communities in Hoover, this former resort destination now attracts homebuyers looking to settle down in a peaceful outdoorsy community. “It’s got this small city feel,” says Jeremy Galloway, a Realtor at eXp Realty and a resident of Bluff Park since 2016. “Everyone tends to know their neighbors, and people are never that far from schools and parks.”

Limestone terrain and Lover's Leap at Shades Mountain
Near the top of Shades Mountain is an outcropping of limestone boulders, a famous ridge called Lover's Leap, which has a collection of historical stories and a Creek Nation legend attributed to it. Engravings from past visitors decorate the rocks where residents can relax and take in the scenery. Alternatively, Moss Rock Preserve has over 350 acres sprawled along the southern end of the community, crisscrossed by streams, waterfalls and miles of hiking trails. Rock climbers frequent the bluffs and crags of Boulder Field, which is also peppered with sandstone glades. Closer to neighborhood streets, Bluff Park Community Park has a playground and Shades Cliff Pool, a private pool available to residents through a membership.
