Homes here today are in high demand with families and young professionals seeking a quiet neighborhood with spacious yards, large trees and sidewalks. Home prices are lower on average than those in other neighborhoods within the Vestavia Hills area – but still higher than the average home in Alabama. Colonials, split-levels, modern cottages and Tudor houses round out the mix, ranging from $265,000 up to $1.7 million for a newer custom-built house with multiple bedrooms. Younger kids can get a little wild on the playground at popular Cahaba Heights Park, which opened in 2020 behind Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights. The playground, from the swings to the weblike climbing structure, is turfed by a rubber surface that feels a lot less harsh than concrete. A canopy covers the sliding board, protecting kids from that Alabama sunshine. The park also has four new baseball fields, a dog park and green space. “It’s close to the heart of the city,” Warner says, “so its’s very convenient for people.” The 1.3-mile Boulder Canyon Nature Trail in Vestavia Hills, southwest of Cahaba Heights, passes small waterfalls as it loops through a hardwood forest.Upscale boutiques and fiery pizza at Heights Village

Hot chicken, jalapeno cheddar and fresh jalapenos amp up the heat on his acclaimed Blazer pizza. One of the neighborhood’s oldest restaurants is Miss Myra’s Pit Bar-B-Q, famous for its in-house smoked barbecue and banana pudding. Locals also hit Waldo’s Chicken & Beer for its game nights, live music and convivial vibe. Popular grocery stores include Whole Foods, Publix and Winn-Dixie. The enormous Summit Birmingham, an upscale mall with an AMC movie theater, borders the neighborhood.Downtown Birmingham is an easy commute from Cahaba Heights
