Bayside
Suburban Neighborhood in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Virginia Beach County 23455, 23462
Various home styles on and off Lake Smith’s shore
It’s worth mentioning that many Bayside homes are primarily brick ranch homes built between the 1940s and 1950s. Three-bedroom ranch-style homes can range between $280,000 and $350,000, where some have been fully renovated, and others maintain their historical features. Residents also live in Colonial-inspired suburban homes with attached two-car garages, which can cost around $500,000. With the lakes making up the heart of the neighborhood, many homes sit along the waterfront, and some have their own private docks or boat launches. North Shore is a luxury community with over 100 properties lining the shores of Lake Smith. Though they vary in style, these waterfront homes have one thing in common: most of them are priced between $600,000 and over $800,000.Cherry blossoms bloom at Tidewater Arboretum
Outdoorsy residents can explore the Lake Lawson/Lake Smith Natural Area, a 42-acre nature preserve great for spending a day under the sun, walking the trails, or fishing on the pier for largemouth bass and white catfish. The nearby boat ramp lets folks take canoes or kayaks out for a calm day on the lake. At the Tidewater Arboretum, families and their pets can explore cherry blossoms and tulips while they read educational plaques about native plant life. Bayside also has two community centers, the Bayside Recreation Center and the William Farms Recreational Center. “There is always a lot to do at the recreation centers,” McArthur says. William Farms has an indoor pool, a rock-climbing wall, a splash zone and an outdoor skate park. Bayside Recreation Center includes several opportunities for exercise and sports and includes a youth game room and indoor playground. Bayside also hugs the Cypress Point Country Club, which offers public and member tee times, a pool, and the Cypress Bar & Grill. The Virginia Beach City Public School District
Part of the highly rated Virginia Beach City Public School district, Bayside students may start their education at Bayside Elementary School, which scores a B on Niche. They can then attend Bayside Middle School, which also earns a B and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 12 to one. Students interested in a career in medical science can attend Bayside High School and apply for their Health Sciences Academy to receive mentorship from experts. Bayside High has a B-plus grade and is ranked by Niche as the No. 6 standout high school in Virginia.Within driving distance of Downtown Norfolk and the Atlantic Ocean
Only 5 miles west of Bayside is the Norfolk International Airport, and Downtown Norfolk is just around 10 miles away via Interstate 264. In the event of an emergency, the Sentara Leigh Hospital is only 5 miles south of the neighborhood. Bayside is also only 5 miles away from Chesapeake Beach for a day by the ocean.
Northampton Boulevard restaurants and shops
The area’s central hub for shopping is The Town Center of Virginia Beach, just 5 miles south, an upbeat retail district with over 17 blocks of shops ranging from upscale and luxurious boutiques to gourmet eateries. Closer to home, Aberdeen Barn Steakhouse on Northampton Boulevard is a family-owned gem established in 1966, featuring tender lamb chops, savory prime filet mignon, and specialty cocktails. Pop’s Diner Co., just up the road, serves classic American breakfasts with fruit-covered waffles and cinnamon roll pancakes. Where Military Highway and Virginia Beach Boulevard intersect, residents can find all the essentials at the local Aldi, Lowes and Walmart.
