A Wakefield neighborhood with an MBTA station, dining district and elementary school

A mile south of downtown Wakefield, Greenwood is an established neighborhood home to Greenwood Elementary, a commuter train station and local shops and restaurants along Main Street. Though it’s primarily residential, these amenities are centrally located in the neighborhood. “Greenwood is where my heart is,” says Laurie Hunt, a local Realtor at North Star Real Estate Agents. “It’s very, very easy to get to public transportation. It’s also close to Melrose, which is nice. You can go to shops and restaurants in Greenwood but still also make it to shops and restaurants in downtown Melrose very easily.”

Dining along Main Street

Most of Greenwood’s dining options can be found along Main Street, which runs north-south through the center of the neighborhood. Hunt recommends Cido's, an Italian café with a patio that serves wine and cappuccinos all day. “It’s got a nice vibe and really good food,” she says. “Main ST Grille and Taphouse is another very popular restaurant, and Tequila’s has absolutely phenomenal Mexican food. I love the people that work there, too.” The neighborhood’s nearest grocery store is Whole Foods Market, while nearby Green Street Natural Foods carries organic and vegan ingredients. Both stores are less than a mile south of Greenwood.
