Residential community a part of the developing city of Warren
Austin Village is a residential neighborhood in the western sector of the City of Warren, tucked into a bend of the Mahoning River. The whole city of Warren grew exponentially at the beginning of the 20th century with the rise of the steel industry and became one of the fastest-growing towns in Ohio between 1910 and 1920. After the steel industry collapsed in the 1970s, the community saw a dip in the economy and a lull in development, which Warren is actively rebuilding today. Organizations like the Warren Neighborhood Initiative and the Warren Redevelopment Planning Corporation help promote economic and business development. "This is a really tight-knit community with many great people," says Realtor Dominic Mararri of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. Mararri owns a home on Parkman Road and has sold homes across the community since 2015. "The city is trying to invest in their downtown area. They're hoping to bring back the livelihood of the city."

Shopping at the Sparkle Market and dining at Cockeye
Following Parkman Road and West Market Street are several restaurants and stores. "Cockeye BBQ has some of the best barbecue around," Mararri says. The restaurant features hand-rubbed, freshly smoked barbecue served on heaping meat plates with ample side options like macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, hushpuppies and baked beans. Locals also enjoy the restaurant's fried chicken, burgers and salad options. Hungry locals frequently grab a table at Chat-n-Chew, a small diner with breakfast sandwiches, pancakes and other early-morning favorites. The restaurant also features country-fried steak, BLTs and fresh-baked pie. Residents have a few options for grocery shopping, like Lit’l Mac's Food Store, a small one-stop-shop with hot meals, snacks, ice cream and a few grocery essentials. Outdoor recreation on the Mahoning
Locals head to Lovers Lane Park to enjoy a day outside. The park has few amenities, but residents explore its unmarked, woodsy trails that trek the banks of the Mahoning River. A popular spot to directly access the river is at Canoe City Metropark, under 2 miles west in Leavittsburg. The park spans nearly 14 acres along the river, featuring a playground, grills, picnic tables and benches. Anglers cast a line from the banks or on the park's floating dock while boaters hit the small boat launch. Locals often bring kayaks or canoes to explore the river, venturing the 22-mile Mahoning River Water Trail.
