Touisset Highlands offers peaceful living along the Kickemuit River
Touisset Highlands is a small sliver of a neighborhood facing the Kickemuit River. As a cove community right at the mouth of Mount Hope Bay, it has an exclusive reputation without feeling entirely remote from the outside world. The area was once developed as a summer retreat, but it has since transitioned to a year-round neighborhood. “This is a great place to live because you’re not far from Warren,” says Elizabeth Kirk, a Realtor with Lila Delman Compass. “You’ll see older housing stock, but it has been renovated. It’s very quaint.” Touisset Highlands is the kind of place where you can nest down with some privacy, but you’re never too far from the action.
Homes in Touisset Highlands have large lots and an established feel
The area is heavily covered with mature trees, giving it an established feel. But there’s a contemporary look in place, too, with well-manicured lawns, wide streets and long driveways. It’s not uncommon for lots to be a quarter acre or bigger, and waterfront views are available, too. A 1970s Cape Cod done up in cream and tan represents the type of home you’ll find here – both cozy and coastal. Homes are sized to compliment the larger lots, with a two-bedroom house sprawling across 2,000 square feet.

Niche gives the school solid marks across a range of categories: a B-plus in academics but also a B in clubs and activities. Every year the marching band leads the country’s oldest Fourth of July parade in Bristol.
Nature reserves offer peaceful walks and wildlife viewing opportunity
This is a quasi-rural neighborhood, so getting outdoors is a prime pastime. The Touisset Wildlife Marsh Refuge adjoins Touisset Highlands, and is great for birdwatching. You’ll see egret, ospreys and bluebirds. Other wildlife like deer, foxes and harbor seals can also be observed. The spot comprises 66 acres of forest, but flat terrain makes this an easily walkable place for all parties. Come for the magazine-worthy salt marsh overlooks, stay for the peace and quiet.
Shopping and dining options are available in downtown Warren
You’ll need a car for exploring retail destinations, but with Route 103 so close by, you can reach downtown Warren in about 10 minutes. From there, you’ve got multiple restaurant options at your fingertips, whether that’s fish tacos at The Square Peg or a breakfast sandwich at the Coffee Depot. Bring your bike along and hop on the East Bay Bike Path, which passes Hugh Cole Elementary and Kickemuit Middle.
