Shopping on Shore Drive
Shore Drive is where people go to grab a bite. West Shore Coffee Bar is a funky hangout with a diner-style bar and sweet concoctions like a banana split latte. Dave’s Fresh Marketplace, a local chain known for its wide selection and prepared foods, is also on Shore Drive. Raspberry cinnamon sticks and double-flavored Danishes are available at Antonio’s Bakery, and pepperoni rounds and Italian subs are next door at Charlie’s Deli. Picasso’s Pizza and Pub is a laid-back sports bar with pool tables, TVs and an extensive menu ranging from Reuben sandwiches to broccoli pies. Meadowbrook Lanes is pure retro fun, with bowling balls sized for kids’ hands and special events like karaoke night. For daily errands, neighbors head to Warwick Avenue, another major transportation route for residents. Helpful amenities are clustered here, including Walgreens, CVS, Big Lots and Dollar General. For groceries, there’s a large Stop & Shop supermarket and smaller niche businesses like the Sandy Lane Meat Market and Dockside Seafood Marketplace.
An Ocean State haven for first-time buyers
“In this area, as you get closer to Oakland Beach, you’ll see a lot of two-bedroom, one-bathroom homes,” says Realtor Stefanie Carr. “It does seem like a great place to find an investment property, or if you’re a first-time homebuyer.” Houses in Wildes Corner typically have half an acre of land, grassy front lawns and mature trees. Period details, such as brick fireplaces or clawfoot tubs, persevere, but properties here are ideal for homebuyers who want to add some updates. Prices start in the mid $300,000s.

Set in a bold red brick building on the north side of Wildes Corner is the central branch of the Warwick Public Library. Neighbors can read a story as they walk through the library grounds, thanks to a partnership between the library and the Warwick Parks and Recreation Department. Called a StoryWalk, the exhibit places an illustrated children’s book, page by page, along a walking path, combining reading with physical activity. “And Here’s to You” by David Elliot was installed as a StoryWalk on the library grounds in May 2023. When the temperature rises, neighbors head to the public beach at Little Pond for a swim in its fresh water. Fishing is a popular activity there, too.The interstate and T.F. Green Airport
