Co-sponsored by the Friends of Guy Mason and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, the outdoor festival includes local artists, music and businesses. “The location is a huge draw. You aren’t downtown, but you have easy access to downtown,” Dudley says. “The neighborhood is centrally located.” While there is no Metro station in Glover Park, residents use the Metrobus system to get around. For those residents looking to get out of town, Ronald Reagan International Airport is a 5-mile drive from Glover Park. For those in need of medical attention, George Washington University Hospital is just a 2-mile drive.
Authentic German experience at Old Europe
Whether residents are looking for groceries or prepared food, they’ll find it all on Wisconsin Avenue. The lively stretch teems with beloved dining rooms, take-outs and big-box retailers. Locals have a deep affection for Old Europe, a landmark restaurant that has been serving authentic German food since it opened its doors in 1948. Visitors are served by Waitresses dressed in traditional German Dirndls, while the interior of the restaurant is decorated in an ‘old world’ style. For those looking for American cuisine, Glover Park Grill is another local favorite. From its crab cake sandwich to its filet mignon, its menu is one that won’t disappoint. The area’s Whole Foods is the first of its kind in the DC area.
