Out East’s name and culture reflect its diverse heritage

With a history that predates the 1700s, Out East was titled for how early residents colloquially referred to neighborhoods on Waterbury's outskirts. When asked where they lived, they could say "Out East." With a history of Puerto Rican, Irish and Italian neighborhoods, Out East includes has ties to New York in a city known for its blue-collar identity, with communities living close to the brass factories of the 19th century.
