Throughout the year, Waukegan hosts ArtWaulk in downtown, highlighting different art exhibits as a way to bring a more artistic vibe to the city. “We have a lot of cool public art pieces being installed,” says Niya Simone, a public relations specialist with the City of Waukegan. In the summer, the city gathers for Scoop the Loop, a classic car show with live music in downtown. “For Christmas, on the Saturday before December, we have this huge Kris Kringle market,” Simone says. “We’re working to make it a bigger even year after year.”
Taking the bus to downtown Waukegan from Lyon Acres
Belvidere Road connects motorists and buses to downtown Waukegan, so residents can easily get to the events or restaurants.
