The Cove Road section of Weirton

The homes along Cove Road, about a mile north of downtown Weirton, have been there since the days when the city of Weirton was a booming steel city. About half a mile west of Cove Road, the Cleveland Cliffs mill that still held onto a tinplate manufacturing facility until it closed in 2024 is poised for comeback. “There are plans for a transformer company that will bring that area back to life,” says Rachel Keeney, executive director of the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
