Thousands of horses arrive during peak season, January to March, to compete in the heavily attended Winter Equestrian Festival at Wellington International. Each week acts as its own horse show with separate competitions in addition to the main events. Palm Beach Polo Season, held at the nearby National Polo Center, coincides with the Winter Equestrian Festival. "The people that come to the area over the winter are almost all horse people," says Jennifer Drahan, a Realtor with Keller Williams Wellington. "There are plenty of year-round residents that aren't horse people, but when horse season is over, a lot of those horse people choose to stay here."Community-built Tiger Shark Cove Park
Tiger Shark Cove Park has softball fields, batting cages, and a playground with swings and slides. It is beloved by residents for its ocean-themed play structures and its history as a community-led project designed from the ideas of local children. The park was funded through private donations and built by hundreds of local volunteers. Margate Park in the Margate Place subdivision is popular among residents for its courts and playgrounds, but it is open to the public.Locally loved Lindburgers and the Movies at Wellington
