Wesley Chapel, 24 miles north of Tampa, is part of Florida's Nature Coast, a region known for its natural spaces and stretches of undeveloped land. The town was founded in the mid-1800s and was originally called Double Branch for the area's twin creeks. As more pioneers settled in, a Methodist chapel was built, and it was renamed in honor of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement. Today, the formerly rural community in Pasco County is one of Florida's fastest growing towns. Improved access to major interstates in the 1990s attracted homebuyers seeking a suburban lifestyle with easy access to Tampa. Planned residential developments and sprawling shopping centers also fueled growth. Since 2020, the population has surged 14%, and Wesley Chapel is now home to 81,000 residents. "It's a very fast-growing environment, but you still live in a community where people care. It's warm and friendly," says Dammy Sanchez, a Realtor with Florida's 1st Choice Realty and an area resident for 12 years.
Major employers in Wesley Chapel include Saddlebrook Resorts, a residential and recreational development, Pasco County Public Schools and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. The Orlando Health Wiregrass Ranch Hospital broke ground in early 2024 along State Road 56. Slated to open in spring 2026, the 400-bed comprehensive service hospital will be the largest hospital in the county and will bring hundreds of jobs.

Master-planned communities include those with golf courses and lagoons
Master-planned communities (MPCs) have taken over what was farmland and have played a significant role in luring homebuyers to the area. "Wesley Chapel has every size of everything; starter homes, townhomes and millennium mansions," says Patti Reading, a Realtor with Future Home Realty. MPCs include Epperson Ranch, which offers newly constructed townhouses and single-family homes centered around lagoons with sandy beaches; prices run from $300,000 to $1 million. Saddlebrook Resort is one of the most high-end MPCs in Wesley Chapel; developed in 1981, it features two golf courses, 45 tennis courts and a European-inspired spa. Prices here range from the low-$400,000s to $2 million for a five- or six-bedroom estate on 1 acre. There are also 55-plus communities like Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch with villas and resort-style amenities and prices from around $430,000. The median home price in Wesley Chapel is about $425,000, slightly lower than the median price in Tampa.
