Eaglewood
West Fargo suburban new-build homes
The median year homes were built within Eaglewood is 2016, with many still occupied by their first owner. “The affordability is there,” says Budhiraja, speaking to the draws of the community. “It’s a good mixture of homes, twin homes, single familys, smaller and larger homes.” Home design in Eaglewood is familiar, fitting into the design language used across the modern suburbs of the region. Sloped roofs meeting at angles, front-facing two- and three-stall garages, and durable vinyl exteriors in muted colors, complemented by stone accents. Despite being one of the newer suburbs in the area, home pricing in Eaglewood is still slightly below the Fargo metro average. Twin homes generally sell for between $245,000 and $280,000, while bi-level single-family homes with three bedrooms and lots under a quarter acre can go from $255,000 up to $325,000. Three-level splits and four-bedroom houses usually sell for prices starting around $310,000 and reaching up to $500,000.Mustang athletics and strong academics
Students can start their education at Brooks Harbor Elementary School, built in 2017 and opening in tandem with Eaglewood. It’s located just north of the neighborhood, within walking and biking distance for some, and it earns a B from Niche. After Brooks, students move on to Liberty Middle School, graded a B-minus by Niche, before heading to Sheyenne High School. Sheyenne gets a B grade, and Niche gives it high marks for college prep as well as athletics – most recently, the boys’ basketball team won the 2024 Division AA State Championship, defeating cross-town rivals Fargo North.Pocket parks and a pond of perch
Two pocket parks, Eaglewood Park and Eaglewood Park West, feature playgrounds for neighborhood kids to get their energy out along with some open green spaces. Just north, the Brooks Harbor Fishing Pond is a unique community fishery open year-round, even for ice fishing in the winter months. “It’s all taken care of, they (Fish and Game) make sure it’s stocked and you’ll always see somebody fishing there,” says Budhiraja. Eaglewood residents can grab a pole and walk or bike. BJ Kratz, Supervisor of the Southeast Region of Fisheries with North Dakota Fish and Game, does say that a fishing license is required by the state, but that those under the age of 16 don’t need one.Fast cars, shooting stars, all of The Lights
“There’s a big shopping plaza that’s called The Lights; there are condos above it and downstairs, there are bars. There’s ice skating, and a big plaza for concerts, I’ve seen many concerts there,” says Budhiraja. Adjacent to the community, it’s a mixed-use complex that's also a hub of activity for the southwest region of the metro. "Residents don’t even have to walk down there to enjoy it," says Danielle Beilke, Realtor with Beyond Realty, “Some people can sit in their backyard and listen to local concerts going on at The Lights for free! How fun is that?”Hearty American favorites alongside cultural specialties
The Lights is the focus for much of the local shopping and dining options. Here, residents can start the day with a fresh cup of coffee from Moxie Java. If they’re looking for something more substantial, Randy’s Diner Too is the second location for a Fargo standby, which features hearty breakfasts served all day long. Tati’s Mediterranean Saveur serves Mediterranean favorites with a focus on Lebanese fare, like mixed mezze plates and shawarma, although the dawood basha is a favorite for many diners. Bar Down is a big, breezy sports bar and grille with a patio that overlooks the courtyard and offers prime seating for shows below. Residents wanting something a little more low-key should head over to Hooligans, for weekend brunches and late-night menus. Cash Wise Foods West Fargo is the nearby stop for weekly groceries, while bulk buyers can head a mile north to Costco Wholesale.Interstate 94 makes regional travel easy
Despite being located on the western edge of the city, Budhiraja says that Eaglewood is still incredibly convenient, pointing out the access to Interstate 94 only a half mile north. “There aren’t many businesses in Eaglewood,” says Budhiraja, “but it’s great that the highway is close.” While the nearby parks, dining and retail are walkable and bikeable, public transit is limited, so residents are car-dependent for errands and heading to work. While Downtown Fargo is a 9-mile drive, often taking around 20 minutes, major employers like Microsoft are closer, usually within 15 minutes. Budhiraja and Hagen say that Sanford Medical Center is a major regional job center – only 3 miles away, it provides 24-hour emergency services and is reachable in under 10 minutes. Even Hector International Airport, 10 miles northwest, takes 20 minutes or less to get to most times of day.Two very different – but very popular - fairs
The Red River Valley Fair is perhaps the single biggest event on the annual calendar for every resident in Fargo – spanning three weekends in late June and early July, hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoy rides, a brightly lit midway, concerts featuring nationally touring acts and, of course, fair food. The West Fargo Street Fair, a smaller scale event, brings artists and small vendors to town on the third Saturday of June. And within Eaglewood, Beilke says that annual neighborhood garage sales get a great turnout from the community.
