Countryside living in a new West Fargo suburb
Located right on the edge of West Fargo's developed areas, Goldenwood is a newly built neighborhood that grants folks access to both North Dakota's countryside and a family-friendly, suburban atmosphere. "I really enjoy taking the kids out to see the Sheyenne River snaking along the neighborhood. There's always an eagle's nest or some turkey or deer to see, too," says Skyler Dutton, who owns Thunder Coffee and built a home here in 2009. When not exploring the area's natural landscapes, residents can enjoy Goldenwood's manmade lake, or take a walk to the park and gazebo in the middle of the neighborhood. With affordable price points and spacious floorplans, Goldenwood provides a simple suburban lifestyle, just minutes from the rest of the greater Fargo area.
Newly built homes in Goldenwood
Built from 2008 to 2020, homes in Goldenwood offer modern and spacious options for those looking to live outside the city. The neighborhood streetscapes feature long sidewalks and close-cropped front yards, with traditional-style homes complete with vinyl siding and large garages. A few empty lots are also available for custom builds. Duplexes and single-family homes with three bedrooms sell for as low as $250,000, while larger properties along the riverfront can sell for up to $500,000. Most homes also include rear patios and ample backyards, where families and neighbors can spend time outside together. "I think what people like about Goldenwood is that everyone's friendly and welcoming, plus it's inexpensive. It's that Midwest attitude," says Lance Belisle, Recreation Director for the West Fargo Park District.

Nearby parks along the Sheyenne River
When folks in the neighborhood want to get outside, Goldenwood Park provides a nearby option. People can walk their dogs in the wide-open grassy areas or take their kids to play on the basketball court and playground. During the winter, a nearby hill provides somewhere for kids to go sledding, while a gazebo and picnic tables wait for folks to gather and get together. Just a few miles south, residents can also head to Elmwood Park for some fishing on the Sheyenne River and a variety of athletic options.
