Ironhorse
Variety of homes surrounds golf course and lakes
The picturesque golf layout that winds around the community’s subdivisions is complemented by several man-made lakes. Large homes with striking architecture stand out on oversized lots that offer either waterfront or golf course views and typically feature in-ground pools. Smaller villa-style homes here are built closer together, with small front yards and backyards that also often have pools. “There’s a little bit for everyone and every budget,” says Helen Bassie, a Realtor with Treasure Property Group LLC who sells homes in the community. All homes come standard with driveways, attached garages and barrel-tile roofs, which help protect against severe weather during hurricane season and can lessen insurance rates. Prices range from the mid-$600,000s to nearly $ 2 million. Monthly HOA fees range from $240 to $498. “The price points right now are really good in comparison to other golf communities,” says Burroughs, who regularly sells homes in Ironhorse.Grassy Waters Preserve, Dyer Park are nearby attractions
The Preserve at Ironhorse’s 18-hole course is set amid wetlands. The 12th through 14th holes run along the community’s largest lake, highlighting the challenge and beauty of the 7,187-yard, par-72 layout. The course was redesigned in 2022 by famed architect Rees Jones and attracts members who don’t live in the community. “The golf course is very well known. It’s popular among the locals,” Bassie says. In addition to golf, members enjoy tennis and pickleball courts, a fitness center and a club pool. Golfers can take lessons from certified PGA professionals, and tennis players can take private lessons. Membership is not required of homeowners, so non-golfers can enjoy the setting without the added costs. “If you want the feel of a private golf community without having to pay extra, Ironhorse is an amazing neighborhood,” Burroughs says. The clubhouse offers on-site dining and hosts social events.Immediately west of the community is Grassy Waters Preserve, a wetland ecosystem that covers 23 square miles and provides much of the county’s freshwater supply. This section of the Everglades contains marshland, cypress swamps and drier hammock habitats, all accessible by foot, bike and non-gas-powered watercraft. Visitors might see alligators, bobcats and river otters among a diverse collection of native animals and plants.
About 2 miles east of the community is Dyer Park, a sprawling green space filled with a variety of amenities. Visitors can fish the lake, ride miles of mountain biking trails, play basketball, baseball and soccer and enjoy children’s playscapes. The park is also a popular spot for flying remote control planes, with a specialized hangar and runway located there. The adjacent Winding Waters Natural Area is a 548-acre preserve that is popular among birdwatchers. Its wetlands can be traveled by kayak or canoe. The nearby SWA Greenway Trail System features a butterfly garden, dragonfly trail and rookery for nesting birds. The Intracoastal Waterway, which is a haven for boaters, and the Atlantic oceanfront are within 8 miles of the community. Lakeside Park and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park are destinations that offer beach access and more.

Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, rated C-plus, features the Five Carat Choice Program. Its specialized courses include subjects such as education, fire science and biotechnology. The district offers school choice to eligible students who want to attend schools outside their geographic zone.Northlake Boulevard provides easy access to shopping and dining
Grocery stores and restaurants are concentrated along nearby Northlake Boulevard. Residents can stock up on essentials at Publix and Winn-Dixie, and Joseph’s Classic Market is known for its Italian specialties. The Original Pancake House is a popular family-run breakfast restaurant. Piknik by Chef Christophe is a highly rated sandwich shop. Target and Walmart provide one-stop shopping.Bee Line Highway, Florida Turnpike intersect just outside the community
In addition to quickly connecting residents to shopping and dining options, Northlake Boulevard also provides convenient access to the waterfront. The Bee Line Highway and the Florida Turnpike intersect just outside the community, and Interstate 95 is about 3 miles away. Kindred Hospital The Palm Beaches is less than 3 miles from the community via the Bee Line Highway, and HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is off I-95 less than 5 miles from the neighborhood. Palm Beach International Airport is a 12-mile drive. “You have the peace and quiet of the preserve, but you can be in the city in minutes,” Burroughs says.
