Mixed-property suburb with sprawling nature preserve
Lone Pines is a mixed-property suburb situated in the Riviera Beach area of West Palm Beach. “A lot of people move to this area for the great weather, a vast number of beaches and water activities,” says Michele Holmes, a real estate agent with United Realty Group, who has more than eight years of industry experience. Although this neighborhood is home to several residential communities and apartment complexes, a local industrial sector does take up a large portion of the area. In addition to this industrial sector, Lone Pines encompasses the Winding Waters Natural Area, a nature preserve and wetland that spans more than 500 acres. Residents living here are a short 9-mile drive away from Downtown West Palm Beach and approximately 6 miles from the Intracoastal Waterway shoreline.

These communities often have a number of ranch-style residences and bungalows that display Spanish Revival features, such as earth-tone concrete facades and red tile roofs. A three-bedroom ranch-style home located on the Lone Pine Estates golf course can cost approximately $460,000, whereas some four-bedroom townhomes in gated communities might sell for a little more than $350,000. Florida maples and palm trees line residential streets, giving the area a more natural atmosphere away from the bustle of Downtown.

Hike the Winding Waters Natural Area
“There are several public parks inland here, and more out towards the beachfront,” Holmes says. In the Winding Waters Natural Area, which borders many of the neighborhood's residential communities, locals can hike hundreds of acres of land, birdwatch from observation decks and go kayaking through the area’s wetlands. Just north of this preserve is Dyer Park, where residents can find baseball fields, a playground, numerous biking trails and a soccer field complex. At the edge of the neighborhood’s industrial sector, sports lovers can practice their serve and play ball at Gramercy Park’s tennis and basketball courts. The neighborhood’s namesake, the Lone Pine Golf Club, has been a mainstay in the area for over 40 years and features an 18-hole executive layout.
