Lone Pines
Suburban Neighborhood in West Palm Beach, Florida
Palm Beach County 33407, 33412
Spanish-style townhomes in gated communities
Many single-family homes in this neighborhood can be found in private townhome communities situated on winding cul-de-sacs and planned streets. These communities often have a number of ranch-style residences and bungalows that display Spanish Revival features, such as earth-tone concrete facades and red tile roofs. A three-bedroom ranch-style home located on the Lone Pine Estates golf course can cost approximately $460,000, whereas some four-bedroom townhomes in gated communities might sell for a little more than $350,000. Florida maples and palm trees line residential streets, giving the area a more natural atmosphere away from the bustle of Downtown.Hike the Winding Waters Natural Area
“There are several public parks inland here, and more out towards the beachfront,” Holmes says. In the Winding Waters Natural Area, which borders many of the neighborhood's residential communities, locals can hike hundreds of acres of land, birdwatch from observation decks and go kayaking through the area’s wetlands. Just north of this preserve is Dyer Park, where residents can find baseball fields, a playground, numerous biking trails and a soccer field complex. At the edge of the neighborhood’s industrial sector, sports lovers can practice their serve and play ball at Gramercy Park’s tennis and basketball courts. The neighborhood’s namesake, the Lone Pine Golf Club, has been a mainstay in the area for over 40 years and features an 18-hole executive layout.High marks for Bak Middle School of the Arts
Primary school students might attend Egret Lake Elementary, which offers a pre-kindergarten program and receives a C-plus rating from Niche. Later, students can go to Bear Lakes Middle School, a C-rated institution, or enroll in the Bak Middle School of the Arts, an A-rated public magnet school that ranked No. 3 on Niche’s “Best Public Middle Schools in Palm Beach County” list. For secondary school, students can attend Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, which receives a score of C-plus.Spend the day at Rapids Waterpark
Lone Pines is home to Rapids Waterpark, a seasonal amusement park that features a number of rides, dining options and retail stores. Guests can also reserve private cabanas and spend the day relaxing under cooling ceiling fans. Additionally, Rapids offers group event packages for people looking to celebrate birthday parties, organize corporate retreats, plan a school field trip and more.9-mile drive to Downtown Palm Beach
Florida’s Turnpike is a toll road that runs north-south through the western half of the neighborhood. Along the eastern border, residents can access Interstate 95 and drive approximately 9 miles south to Downtown Palm Beach and the Palm Beach International Airport. This area is not considered very walkable, so most residents rely on cars as their main mode of transportation. Palm Tran Public Transportation operates fixed bus routes with multiple bus stops along some of the neighborhood’s busier roads, like Military Trail and 45th Street.Retail and restaurants on 45th Street
Residents can shop for a range of household goods and all their grocery needs on 45th Street just a couple blocks south of the neighborhood, where they’ll find a Walmart supercenter and Sam’s Club, as well as the South Wind Shopping Plaza. Further down the street, locals can pick up Caribbean food at Pollo Tropical, a counter-serve chain restaurant, or sit down and enjoy Jamaican cuisine at Bull Top Taste Restaurant.Nearby industrial buildings can cause noise and pollution
The HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is located less than a mile east of Lone Pines and has a 24/7 emergency room and multiple healthcare specialties. A large section of this neighborhood is comprised of industrial warehouses and waste centers, which can increase traffic, noise and pollution in the area. These industrial properties include a Costco Distribution Center, Solid Waste Authority (SWA) recycling buildings and the SWA North County Landfill.
