As the calendar turns to the fall months in Crompton, this Rhode Island town transforms into a vibrant landscape as some of its trees turn red, orange and yellow with the season.

The streets of Crompton are lined with such foliage, making for a scenic walk any time of year. Home styles are primarily ranch and Cape Cod constructions, with colonials in the area as well. Prices vary but range from $300,000 to close to $1 million, with many selling for between $300,000 and $500,000.

Students begin their education at Greenbush Elementary School, hosting up through fourth grade and rating at a C with Niche while providing its attendees with a playground. They then move on to the C-plus-rated John F. Deering Middle School in the West Warwick Public Schools system and complete their education at West Warwick High School, which scores a B on Niche and offers nearly 25 athletic programs for its students. The assortment of sports includes ice hockey, competition cheerleading, fast-pitch softball and more.

Lined with trees, Juniper Pond makes for a spectacular view from its shoreline, while Flat Top Pond Park features a baseball field and playground alongside several trails winding through the trees. Head north, nearly to the border of the neighborhood, to visit Station Fire Memorial Park, and Canobie Lake Park is right near Greenbush Elementary.

Quaker Lane and Route 2 make up the eastern boundary of Crompton. “We have boutiques, gourmet food and some upscale food takeout,” says Allen Gammons, an area broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate, “plus shopping for cheeses and things like that. There’s also a few chains, but the neighboring towns on both sides of east Greenwich have more of that.” To get a local taste, drop in to Gel’s Kitchen for breakfast or lunch. The local favorite serves omelettes, sandwiches, steaks and more, or try their witches’ brew mimosa, complete with a green tint and gummy worms on the glass’ rim. If Mexican food is what you’re craving, Condesa Restaurante Mexicano offers indoor and outdoor dining in addition to a menu filled with brunch, lunch and dinner options. The family-owned restaurant has expanded to two locations and also features a tequila bar.

Other nearby restaurants include Finn’s Harborside, less than a 15-minute drive away on the shore of Greenwich Cove. “They have world-famous chowder and lobster salad rolls,” Gammons says. “They always win contests. I’ve eaten a few over my time.” For a varied menu, stop into Wise Guys Deli Pizza West Warwick under its Godfather-styled logo for Italian favorites and other options like burgers, fries, macaroni and cheese and more. Want more than one style of pizza? Head west towards Famous Pizza of West Warwick for their sliced pies, grinders or salads. General needs can be found at the Stop and Shop on Route 2, from produce to household items to deli meats.

Proximity to Routes 2 and 4 and Interstate 95, which links central Rhode Island to the rest of the state and beyond, provides accessibility for Crompton residents.
