Open space defines Huntington Trails
“What’s most remarkable about Huntington Trails is the sheer amount of open space per lot – and how much more space is available to people by just exploring their neighborhood,” says Marie Callaway, a longtime Westminster, Colorado, resident and the founder of Callaway Group Real Estate. She was integral to the community’s first steps, having worked with the original developer to make initial on-site sales. “You ask yourself, ‘Okay, what trail do I want today?’ and you either walk out your door to a major trail system or hop in your car, and in just a couple of minutes, you’re in a whole new area. And with that open space comes wildlife – coyotes and bald eagles and foxes. You’re living in the middle of it all.”
Huntington Trails has two subdivisions
Huntington Trails is a neighborhood that blends with its natural surroundings. Homes are split into two subsections. Prices start at $1.5 million in Lexington Estates, which features cul-de-sacs of Craftsman-inspired homes in earthy hues with sloping roofs. Well-maintained lawns and large driveways lead to multi-car garages. Meanwhile, the semicustom homes bordering Lake McKay start at the $3,000,000 mark. Some original owners chose Queen Anne-style builds with steep gables, towers and arched entryways, while others went for more polished exteriors with postmodern twists.
Locals enjoy the outdoors and socializing
The subdued color scheme complements the surrounding greenery and gives the homes an earthy feel, and all homes have equal access to the outdoor space that Huntington Trails was designed to emphasize. The McKay Lake Park area is a community staple where parents chat, children crawl through tunnels and over rock formations, and bikers hit the slopes at McKay Bike Park. The neighborhood also features a community pool and clubhouse.
Huntington Trails residents are frequently inclined to open their doors to each other for socialization. “There are book clubs and traveling dinner nights,” Callaway says. “There isn’t even one social connector per se – that's just people in the neighborhood wanting to sponsor something. Everyone is interconnected.”
Legacy High’s marching band is award-winning
Students in Huntington Trails attend school in the highly rated Adams 12 Five Star Schools district. They can walk to Meridian Elementary School, which has earned an A-minus rating from Niche, before moving up to Westlake Middle School and Legacy High School, which are located across the street from each other. Westlake Middle has a B-plus grade from Niche, and Legacy High has an A-minus. Legacy’s marching band has won numerous state championships and has performed in the Rose Parade and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Private school options like Alexander Dawson High School are also convenient to the neighborhood.
A medical center and Target are near Huntington Trails
Although Huntington Trails offers residents more space per lot than the surrounding areas, it’s far from isolated. The neighborhood is across the street from two major business complexes: a medical building campus surrounding St. Anthony North Hospital and The Orchard Town Center. They can grab groceries at Target after an afternoon class at CYCLEBAR, sit down for a brisket sandwich at Sugar Fire Smoke House, or see a movie at AMC Orchard 12.
Denver and Boulder are less than 20 miles away
Locals can get to Boulder in 17 miles on U.S. Route 36. The community is just far enough from Interstate 25 to avoid noise traffic, but close enough to get to Denver with a 16-mile commute. Using public transportation, residents can get downtown by Light Rail using the Eastlake & 124th Station, which is about 5 miles to the east. They welcome visitors and fly out at Denver International Airport, which is about 26 miles away.
