Legacy Ridge has mature trees, scenic views and active residents
"What strikes me about Legacy Ridge is how beautiful and active the community is," says Realtor Jackie Warner with HomeSmart, who has lived in the area all her life. “I’ve been to two open houses there in the last two weeks, and I was so impressed by all the people out walking, biking and playing golf. The trees are mature, and when you cross the bridge into the neighborhood, you can see Margaret’s Pond. It’s truly striking.”
Golf course views and diverse architecture across the area
Most homes in this beautifully maintained golf community are single-family houses that start at $450,000. On its winding, side-walked streets that follow the curves of the golf course, you’ll find modest split-level homes with prominent two-car garages mixed in with larger two-story brick contemporaries. You’ll also see colossal 6,500-square-foot mansions overlooking the golf course, with vaulted ceilings and stone fireplaces, priced at $1.5 million. Town houses are also available and sell for between $270,000 and $625,000. “The home options are as diverse as the neighborhood,” Warner says. “I’ve seen people of every age at our open houses — with and without children. And everyone I’ve met who lives here is as friendly as can be. This community feels comfortable and inviting no matter who you are.”
Public schools offer arts, STEM and college credit program
Above-average schools serve the Legacy Ridge community. They include Cotton Creek Elementary, which scored a B-plus on Niche. Students here can participate in several clubs and activities, including the Cotton Creek Chorale, a singing/drama/dance/theater group that performs twice a year and has been honored to sing the National Anthem at Coors Field for the Colorado Rockies. At Silver Hills Middle, a B-minus school, students put on an original play written by their drama teacher, and the artwork for the production was created by the school’s multimedia class. And at Northglenn, the oldest high school in the district that received a B-minus, students in the early childhood education program can earn college credit through a partnership with Front Range Community College. They also get hands-on classroom experience by volunteering with a local early learning center.
Golf, parks and trails offer outdoor fun across the community
The Legacy Ridge Golf Course is central to the neighborhood. Opened in 1994, this public 18-hole Scottish links course offers wide fairways and sweeping mountain views. Its gently rolling hills include wetlands and prairie grasses, making each round of golf memorable and full of color. For an outdoor family excursion, you might want to take the kids to Cotton Creek Park, where they can shimmy down slides and pump their legs on the swings. If you cross Vrain Street, you’ll be in the Big Dry Creek area, a place to enjoy the shade of the cottonwood trees and the smoothness of the creek stones on your feet. Windsor Park, near the Legacy Ridge Clubhouse, is designed for sports lovers, with basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts. For indoor recreation, the fitness center at Westminster City Park features three pools, a full-sized gym, racquetball courts and a weight room. Westminster Park is a 205-acre green space featuring soccer fields, a skate park, the Big Dry Creek Trail and other multi-use trails for bikers.
Dining and entertainment options near North Federal Highway
Off North Federal Highway, there’s a King Soopers grocery store and several eateries, including Legacy Point, a neighborhood restaurant and bar with an open-air terrace and plenty of windows to take in the views. Whatever you're in the mood for, tacos, a juicy burger, a crisp salad or loaded waffle fries, Legacy Point probably has it on the menu. Afterward, visitors can get a cappuccino at Navah Coffee House, right around the corner. For more entertainment options, you can visit the Westminster Promenade, which offers a 25-theater cinema and indoor ice-skating venue. With the Denver Boulder Turnpike (Route 36) minutes away, residents also have fast access to these cities. “Downtown Denver is only 15 miles away, and the breweries, food scene and outdoor activities of Boulder are only 20 miles,” Warner says.
