Weston offers a suburban-rural mix, with popular retail

Weston’s blend of suburban and rural living allows residents to spread out on spacious, multiacre properties just a short drive away from vibrant retail. “A lot of people like the village because you’re convenient to dining and shopping areas,” say Realtors Steve and Jacki LaCerte, who work with Coldwell Banker Action and have about 25 years of experience in the area. With a population of approximately 16,000 people, the community continues to grow, especially development-wise. Both local businesses and new construction homes are popping up in the Village of Weston.

Eclectic restaurants and shopping on Schofield Avenue

Schofield Avenue is a centrally located thoroughfare lined with stores, restaurants and strip malls. “It’s growing; they keep on adding more businesses, so there’s a really big draw for shopping and dining,” the LaCerte Team says. The area’s diverse local restaurants include the laidback Vietnamese spot Pho Zone and the family-owned business Patron Mexican Restaurant and Bar, which serves classic dishes in a casual setting. For white tablecloths and fine dining, locals can gather at Wish Steakhouse, ideal for special occasions. “Tine and Cellar is more unique; it’s not a chain, so people gravitate there,” the LaCerte Team says. Best-known for its craft cocktails, this restaurant serves comfort food in a stylish atmosphere. The top spot for entertainment is Dale’s Weston Lanes, a bowling alley with pool tables and a bar.

Schofield Avenue also has convenient shopping, from Target to Dollar Tree. For grocery shopping, there’s ALDI, Pick ‘n Save and Schofield Oriental, a family-run Asian market that reflects the area’s Hmong population. Another option is the Weston Farmers Market, open on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the summertime. The vendors sell locally grown produce and crafts alongside food trucks.

Contemporary, ranch-style and manufactured homes in Weston

The northern half of Weston is a developed suburb, composed of subdivisions and cul-de-sacs of single-family homes. Woodlands and open land cover the southern half of the community, dotted with barns and houses with acreage. “The Village of Weston is more competitive as far as taxes and bigger lot sizes for the most part. Wasau has smaller lot sizes,” the LaCerte Team says. “They have a very good mix of different price points, older to higher-end to new construction neighborhoods — a little of whatever you want.” Contemporary homes range from $400,000 to $700,000, while midcentury ranch-style houses range from $150,000 to $250,000. The west half of Weston has a few mobile home parks, where manufactured homes range from $25,000 to $100,000. Undeveloped multiacre lots range from $30,000 to $1.5 million. On average, homes in the area spend 28 days on the market, compared to the national average of 47 days.
